Cons:
Issue #1 - Mileage Inaccuracy - Original Booking
I rented a Traverse SUV to move my daughter back to college, booking it three months in advance for a two-day rental. Just 30 minutes before the scheduled pickup, I received a welcome text, but noticed that the mileage allowance and additional mileage costs were incorrect. My reservation confirmed 250 miles per day with additional miles at $0.28, but the welcome text indicated only 200 miles per day and $0.38 for extra miles. I immediately contacted the host with proof of my original booking details to avoid being overcharged.

This wasn’t the first time I encountered this issue. In May 2024, I rented the same vehicle for three days with the same mileage allowance (250 miles/day), but received a message stating it was 200 miles per day. I provided a photo of my confirmation, and though I didn’t exceed 600 miles on that trip, the inconsistency is unresolved.

Conclusion: The welcome text and booking details should be updated to accurately reflect the correct mileage and charges. As of this review, the mileage rate remains listed at 250 miles per day with an additional $0.28 per mile.

Issue #2 - Replacement Vehicle Error
I was informed (same day of scheduled pickup) that the Traverse (original booking) had an issue, and host asked if I could switch to a different SUV they had available, a Durango. I agreed after confirming the cargo space would suffice, and Turo customer service facilitated the switch without issue. However, upon pickup, I noticed the new reservation listed 200 miles per day at $0.38 per mile. Turo's policy states that the original reservation terms should be honored if a replacement vehicle is provided. I contacted the host, who confirmed I would still receive the original 250 miles per day, totaling 500 miles for the rental period.

I returned the vehicle with 512 miles on it, expecting to be charged for 12 extra miles. Instead, I was billed for 112 extra miles. I disputed the charge via the app, providing evidence from the original and updated reservations, but my dispute was denied. After contacting Turo customer service by phone, the representative reviewed all documentation and confirmed that an error had been made when the replacement vehicle was booked. Although they initially wanted to refer me to another department, they quickly realized that was unnecessary and refunded the overcharge.

Conclusion: While customer service was helpful during the rebooking, the failure to update the new reservation correctly resulted in unnecessary stress and wasted time. This mistake could have been easily avoided with proper attention to detail.
