Description

Read the guidelines 8-passenger luxury SUV, more seating than a minivan, but smaller inside and more fun to drive My driver's review of the car: This is my favorite car in my fleet. Yes, even better than the AMG (that thing is scary). The GX inspires driver confidence. Sure, it's a highly capable off-roader, based on the Land Cruiser. But in the city, you can tell where the fenders are and cut through traffic. The 4.7 L engine has lots of instant torque, which is the recipe for fun. The brakes are very responsive. The GX makes you want to drive over medians and push incompetent drivers out of the way. It's a little antisocial in a fun way. It won't beep at you for not buckling your seat belt. You can fit a beverage of your choice hidden inside the folding doors of the center console. I parallel park without reverse by driving up the curb. If Baja bumping were acceptable, I'd install crash bars. When I climb into the GX and turn the key, I'm happy and content. There's something comforting about the green glow of the interior controls, the soft thud of Lexus door latches, the leather interior smell, and the way the V8 fires up. And then there's knowing you're in a real 4WD truck with body-on-frame construction and rated to tow 6500 pounds. You feel superior to the Q7's, X5's, GLS's, and Cayennes with their low-profile tires and unibody construction. Only the LR4 and Suburban can compete against the GX. What should I buy next, an LR4 or a Sienna?

Guidelines

1. Have a friendly face as your profile photo. 2. Tell the host why you're renting. 3. Tell me if you can drive a manual, if you can't and would like to learn (free lessons), and whether you have a preference. 4. Be flexible with your trip times and vehicle. 5. Give hosts your arrival plans. 6. Show up on time. 7. Allow 10 - 15 minutes for photos, pre-trip inspection, and an overview of how to operate the car. 8. Call the host right away if you have any issues during your trip. 9. Communicate your return plans. 10. Bring the car back clean and refuelled. 11. If there's damage, tell me about it. 12. Pay your parking tickets right away. 13. Write a review. 14. Check the toll bill for accuracy and approve it. 15. Call me next time you need a car. 16. If you're renting as a group, the driver shouldn't pay.

Faqs

  • It says to use premium fuel only, why do you use regular instead?

Lexus puts that premium fuel sticker on the fuel filler door so you think you have a special vehicle, not just a Toyota Land Cruiser. Premium fuel would reduce knocking and improve performance under high load conditions such as while towing a trailer. But for ordinary driving, the sensors will detect knocking and retard timing as needed. Only use premium fuel if you rent my twin turbo V12 AMG.

  • Why are you so strict about arrival time?

One of the biggest operating costs of Turo is meeting renters. Some renters make it very easy, others are difficult. I rent to everyone, don't discriminate based on any perception of how difficult a renter will be to serve. That's only possible if I can charge for inconvenience, damage, smoking, etc. By insisting on promptness, I get high quality renters who are successful in life because they make things easy for everyone they interact with. And you get clean, well-maintained cars, promptly at your scheduled pickup time. It beats waiting at the rental counter at Hertz.

Charvak was super nice, timely, professional, and the car ran great! We had a great road trip and the Lexus was comfortable. This was our first Turo experience and it's ~a million~ times better than traditional car rental.
