This was a very disappointing Turo rental. The actual rental started out fine . However took a turn for the worst after a few days when I woke up to a vehicle that wouldn’t start. I wasn’t too overly shocked as we were having temperatures in the low 30s in Georgia and these extreme temperatures often affect our car batteries. I sent a message right away through the app contacting the host who advised me reach out to Turo’s roadside assistance . I did. It was very cumbersome going through the App trying to get help. When I finally got a service provider to call me back to schedule a time to come and service the vehicle I was told they were 13 mins away and gave me an ETA of 12 minutes. It took 2.5 hours for them to arrive. I’m a business owner that needed to open my business at 8am . At 10:30 they still hadn’t arrived . When the roadside assistance finally arrived it was after 11am. They put a battery jump box on the vehicle and it fired right up but advised me to leave it running for 10-15 mins. They also stated that I may want to get a new battery for the truck. I advised them I had rented the truck through Turo but would notify the owner. The owner of the vehicle was responsive while I’m dealing with Turo customer service and roadside but said nothing about the battery. I shook off this absolute HUGE inconvenience to my work day and decided to just put it all behind me, that is Until I got an email from Turo saying I now owed $74.20 to Turo for me having contacted them for roadside assistance. This is where my rental turned very disappointing. Why am I being charged for a battery that wouldn’t start on a vehicle that’s not mine???? Seems to me that the owner of the vehicle should be assessed this fee. Fast forward to 4 hours of my time spent trying to get someone on the chat app to credit this fee back to me I finally gave up. Upon discussing this through the message board with the vehicle owner who agreed with me that this was ridiculous, and I shouldn’t have to pay this , I still ended up having to bite the bullet and pay the fee myself , because the owner felt this was “too steep” a fee for him to help me with! How incredibly self centered and selfish especially considering I had extended my rental prior to this incident and he had gone from a $500+ to now almost $800 rental for the week. If he had even offered to give me 1/2 of the fee back I would’ve been satisfied. Instead he provided me some “fine print “‘excuse and blamed it on Turo , when he owns the truck! UNBELIEVABLE. I’m not upset just disappointed that the owner and Turo handled the situation the way they did. I won’t rent again from this owner ans maybe not even Turo. The clearly ha w some customer satisfaction issues that need to be worked out first .

Brendon's response

I am truly sorry for the experience you had. My personal cars are shared through the Turo platform. My error was not to propose AAA earlier than Turo as I was not aware of the fees. This has been a shortcoming on my end and appreciate your feedback. For future guests, I will pass it forward by providing this advice in such cases.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND‼️ Save Yourself The Time & Money!! A waste of over $400 This was my first time renting through turo and it has been the worst rental experience of my life. First off the car had damaged to the right passenger side that Brendon didn’t upload with the other pictures of the car until after I uploaded the pictures and contacted him about it. The truck hesitates, jerks/shake when you put on brakes or are idle at a stop light. The seatbelt broke while I was driving on the expressway and the tire blew out, that was very dangerous and scary. I contacted turo each time about the different incidents and they weren’t helpful at all (one CSR didn’t even put the claim in and rushed me off the phone). We (all females) were stuck on the side of the expressway after midnight waiting 3 hours for turo to send a tow truck out. Once they finally dispatched a tow truck that actually showed up to change the tire, I met with Brendon and returned the car immediately. Now they are charging my card over a hundred dollars in damage fees when the truck had been malfunctioning since I received it. I feel this is a scam and the truck shouldn’t even be available to rent. Clearly an alley mechanic had to inspect this car to approve it to be rented to drive because there is no way a Real Mechanic/Shop gave the green light for this car to be put on turo for renting. If I could give 0 stars I would’ve, don’t waste your time or money with Brendon or Turo!

Brendon's response

I feel bad for the experience you had, unfortunately a flat tire is outside of our control. I have provided this feedback to Turo support since they handle roadside assistance requests and the return of the car. Hope things turn out for the best with you.
