Brittany was 4 1/2 hours late to pick up the car. I was flexible so I let her know it was okay. She changed her time of arrival several times. When Brittany arrived she let me know she had to get a replacement driver's license that day and provided me a paper license after some trouble finding it. It appeared to be valid. She told me she had booked several prior trips on Turo but according to her profile, this was the first. It made me apprehensive but we continued with check in. She unfortunately removed her mask which also made me uncomfortable as I was wearing mine for her's and my own safety. She took a 5-10 minute phone call during check in - I patiently waited. She took a few photos and she left. That night, Brittany called and texted me at 2:30 AM. I did not answer as I didn't hear it ring. She thought maybe she had left her driver's license paper with me. She let me know the next day she had found it. The day of drop off, Brittany requested an extension 45 minutes before drop off time. I politely declined and requested the car be returned as contracted. Brittany refused and said she was unable to make it - it was unclear what the reason was as it changed several times during our chat messaging. I followed the Turo guidelines for a late drop off - I let her know it would be considered late and she would be charged a late fee. She advised she would have the car back by noon. I asked her around 11:30 am if she was still coming at noon. She advised no. I called Turo to make the late drop off report - the customer service agent called Brittany while I was on the line to advise her I was requesting the car back asap. He advised her of the late pick up policy (after 24 hours of being late, Turo escalates the late drop off to a specialist who might start legal action). Brittany took this to mean she had 24 more hours with the car. I let her know that was not the case. She said I was being "mean" and that "You are doing this because I'm black." I found the situation hostile and made the decision to end communication and report the car stolen to my local authorities (which you are able to do as a Turo host). While I was about to have my ride drive me to make the report, Brittany's car drove up and my car shortly followed. I had a friend do the exchange as I did not feel safe. Brittany again referred to me as a racist as she was removing her items from my car. She did not return the car in the same condition it was given her. She returned it on a 1/4 tank of gas when I gave the car to her on Full. Brittany has continued to call my phone after drop off.
