Description

This here is my 2014 Fiat 500e, with the e-Sport package. It is FULLY ELECTRIC and uses NO GAS. Since it is a "short range" EV, this is not the car you want to rent for longer trips. In case you don't know much about these cars, I strongly encourage you read through the entire description to see if this is the right choice for you. This car can can travel about 60-70mi per charge. With its instantly available 147lb/ft of torque, its quite zippy. The battery pack is housed under the floor of the car giving it a low center of gravity, as well as a better weight distribution than a regular gasoline powered Fiat 500. This combination makes it handle quite well for a car of its dimensions. In terms of amenities, the car is equipped with all the normal things you'd expect from a modern car. Bluetooth, AM/FM radio, CD player, heated seats, etc. In addition, it also comes with an optional TomTom navigation system (works fine though it hasn't been updated in quite a while). While it does come with a 120v portable charger, I recommend having a better way to plug it at work, home, etc., unless you are driving less than 40mi per day (10hrs. of charging with the portable charge cable adds about 35-40mi of range, and takes roughly double that to charge to full). If you plan on using lots of public charging, I highly recommend downloading the Plugshare app. This will allow you to easily find public charging infrastructure. Make sure to use the "J-1772" filter for the car. Some public chargers are free, and others cost money. Keep in mind that most public chargers may require you to create an account to use them.

Faqs

  • How do I charge the car?

It’s pretty easy, but I do recommend that you have a pre-existing charger at a place you frequent every day or so. While you can charge the car from a regular household outlet, it is very slow (about 4mi per hour of charge time). If you are driving less than 40 or 50mi per day, the the regular 120v charger it comes with is plenty usable, but any more than that and you'll definitely need extra charging capabilities.

  • How far can I drive the car?

That's a bit dependent on your driving style, and the type of driving that you are doing. Driving on the freeway will reduce the range, and driving at lower speeds in town generally leads to better range. Typically though, it goes about 60-80mi per charge.

  • How do I redeem the free car washes?

There is a sticker in the lower left corner of the windshield that automatically gets scanned when you go to any "Soapy Joe's" location. So there's no card to swipe, or codes to punch in, just drive up to the gate and it will open automatically! Every Soapy Joe's location is a drive through/automated wash, and they always have free vacuums and hand towels.

  • What happens if I incur any tolls or tickets?

I have the car set up with my toll road account. After your trip ends, I will request reimbursement for any and all tolls, parking tickets, traffic light tickets, etc. incurred during your reservation. Please report any tickets/tolls if you receive any. If they show up in the mail later on, you will be charged the full amount due. Please be aware that there are lots of red light cameras in Southern California, and rolling through a red light will often earn you a ticket.
