If you are not an expert in driving a manual transmission car, DO NOT rent it*** Located just down the street from L.A. Union Station in downtown LA. Offers the most generous mileage allowance of any manual trans L.A. car under $50 (verified myself 10/30/20)! Features: -7 Airbags -Power Windows, Locks and Mirrors. -Sport Tuned Suspension -Fog Lamps -remote lock/unlock (contactless) for the most convenient pick-up and drop-off -5-speed MANUAL transmission -CD player -USB, Aux, 12V inputs -Bluetooth connectivity -fold-down rear seats w/ handy hatch-back -spotter (blind-spot) mirror -stability & traction control -hill-holder THIS VEHICLE IS SANITIZED BEFORE EVERY TRIP ****LAX PICKUP/DELIVERY INFO**** Starting 8/23/20, a court injunction prohibits vehicle deliveries to/from LAX. If you are arriving at LAX, you have 3 options: 1) For delivery as close as possible to LAX, select delivery to "Guest's Location" and type in "8731 Lincoln Blvd, Los Angeles.” Delivery fee will apply. Location is in a residential area next to Bowlero bowling alley near LAX. It’s a 5-minute, $6 Lyft ride from LAX. We can either meet in person at this location OR, since this location has FREE, unrestricted street parking, the car can be remotely picked up/dropped off any time for maximum convenience. That takes the pressure off you having to meet me at a specific time. 2.) Take LAX Flyway to L.A. Union Station ($9.75 each way, every 30 mins), then walk 15 minutes or take a quick taxi to the car's location. 3) Take taxi (~$60) or Lyft (~$40) to the car's location to/from LAX. If you are not sure or want to discuss other options, you can always book the trip to start at the default home location and then you can message me to discuss and can change the location at any time for no penalty. See https://support.turo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044906153-Airport-delivery-restrictions for an explanation of the current situation at LAX. It was not too long ago that I booked my first car on Turo. It was a great experience. On Turo, you really can rent a great car (usually better than in any rental fleet) for half the price. That's why I'm making my own car available to you now, too. Why should you hire one of my cars? 1. Great cars in great condition 2. Personal attention--I am not a rental car company--I am just a guy who loves cars! 3. Relatively generous mileage allowance 4. I don't expect you to wash the cars! Most other hosts do I will strive to provide you with the same value and service that I was provided on my first Turo rental. If this is your first time, just let me know and I'll put you at ease as best I can. Regardless of which car you choose, Safe Travels!

Guidelines

Please be courteous--leave the car in the same condition it started in, don't abuse it, and we'll be happy! Pets are OK--just don't leave a mess. Use a blanket to cover seats if your doggy is riding. The car will always be cleaned inside and recently washed. However, because the car may have been sitting outside for a couple days prior to your rental, it could be somewhat dusty (L.A. air is not the cleanest!). See my FAQs for add'l information. Driving Tips I want to share some helpful tips for driving a manual transmission car so that you can drive as safely and efficiently as I do: 1. Always park the vehicle in gear, preferably 1st. Only engage the parking brake if on a grade 2. Always use 1st gear when starting from a stop 3. Engaging the clutch (letting out the clutch pedal) should always be done in a smooth manner, in concert with an increase in throttle pressure. Never “pop”, “drop” or “dump” the clutch [suddenly release it]. 4. Generally upshift between 2,000 and 3,500 RPMs (ideal shift point varies by car) 5. Downshifting is OK but should not be used as a routine method of slowing the vehicle. Avoid downshifting through multiple gears (say, from 5th to 3rd) 6. Shift the car to neutral when stopped for extended periods, like at a stoplight 7. Don’t lug the engine, or accelerate when the gear is too high/engine speed is too low. Generally, the car is safe to accelerate as long as the engine is above 1,500 RPMs. 8. Avoid unnecessary use of the clutch pedal. More pedal action means more wear-and-tear. 9. DO NOT rest your foot on the clutch pedal. 10. DO NOT rest your hand on the gear shift knob Slow acceleration, smooth shifts, and keeping RPMs as low as possible are the ingredients to efficient and long-lasting driving!

Faqs

  • How do I pick up and drop off the car?

Most pickups and dropoffs will occur remotely. This is a frictionless process. Just message me when you're ready for pick-up and I will unlock the car remotely. The keys will be in the driver's side visor. When you are ready to drop-off, just find a legal spot in the general vicinity of where you picked up--there is lots of FREE street parking to choose from. Return the key where you found it,. Don't lock the door manually--instead, send me a message so I can lock it remotely. Be sure to read the pickup & dropoff instructions for more detail on uploading a picture of your driver's license and photos of the car to document the existing condition.

  • Can I use FasTrak toll lanes?

FasTrak is an automated toll program in SoCal where you can use the special toll lanes for the designated fee (see electronic signs at time of use). You are responsible for the actual fees of the tolls incurred during your rental. You can pay them online after the fact (recommended) or if not, I will ask for a reimbursement later--no surcharges will be added. I can provide a copy of the statement for your review if desired.

  • Do I need to vacuum the car when I'm done?

Of course not! You drive, I clean. Even after long trips, leave it to me to freshen the car back up. The only situation where you should clean is if the soil is excessive--food droppings everywhere, tough stains, sand like you left the windows open at the beach, cat hair attached to every fiber of the headboard....Don't risk a cleaning fee in situations like these.

  • Do I need to wash the car when I'm done?

Of course not! You drive, I wash. Even after long trips, leave it to me to freshen the car back up. Now, if you took a mud bath or drove through an aviary, those would be situations where it might be a good idea to give it a quick rinse before that soil bakes onto the paint...

  • Do I need to document the condition of the car?

If I do an in-person handoff, this is not necessary. We will document the condition on a form, as well as the odometer and fuel readings. You are certainly welcome to take pictures, too, to reflect the actual condition of the vehicle on hand-off. If I do a remote handoff, which is the norm and certainly the most convenient option for both of us, I do recommend that you take pictures and note the mileage and fuel level before setting off. Do the same when returning. Take photos of each side of the car, the interior, and closeups of any obvious damage you see. Upload all these pictures to the Trip Photos section of your reservation. Usually, I will have done the same before the start of the trip, too. Here's Turo's FAQ on remote handoffs: https://support.turo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001847367-How-do-remote-key-handoffs-work-for-guests-

  • Do I need to re-fill the gas tank? What octane?

Cheap, old 87 octane, please! Just return the car with the same amount of gas it started with. Usually, that will be completely full. Here's Turo's policy: https://support.turo.com/hc/en-us/articles/203990730-Fuel-policy

  • What happens if I damage the car?

I understand that things happen. Any time you experience difficulty during your rental, contact me promptly. In most cases, if you have incurred damage beyond normal wear-and-tear, it will be easier and cheaper for us to resolve the issue together and not involve insurance or Turo. Turo supports hosts & guests working things out together. Read more about this here: https://support.turo.com/hc/en-us/articles/207963877-How-can-owners-and-guests-work-together-to-resolve-a-claim-
