Description

The Kia Soul EV has about 100 mile range per charge when driven conservatively. This car would be difficult to use on a long road trip without a lot of planning but it is a great car for local trips around town. I welcome any person who'd like to try out an electric car or for those well acquainted and eager to save $ on fuel and lower their carbon footprint while driving this fun and quirky car. The car has many great features and is super quiet and smooth to drive, while providing very comfortable seating and copious headroom for all passengers. You can easily recharge this car at any 120 volt outlet with the included charging cable located in the under floor cargo bin in the rear of the hatchback. This is a very slow method but you can also find many public charging stations and use the attached (on the key fob) Chargepoint RFID card for free charging at any Chargepoint charging station. For a really quick charge, locate a Chademo charging station and typically pay about $10 for 30 minutes of charging. This method will take you from empty to at least 70% and is a good method for longer road trips when planned out properly. For delivery of car to VLS simply purchase the tablet extra package and allow at least one day in advance for me to deliver the vehicle to the parking lot and I'll remotely unlock the car when you are ready to start the rental.

Faqs

  • How do I charge your electric car?

There are multiple options to charging this car. You may simply use the charging cable located in the under floor bin in the rear of the hatchback. This is the slowest means but is the most readily assessible option as there are many 120 volt outlets in almost every building. Do not use an extension cord over 25' as the load of charging can overheat longer extension cords. On the lower left corner of the dashboard you will find a button that opens the charging door located on the driver's side of the grille area. Here you will find 2 charging ports, the smaller being the one used for 120 volt or 240 volt charging. Release the latch of this smaller port and simply plug in the matching receptacle end to it. Charging via a 120 volt outlet adds about 5 miles per hour of charging, so very slow. Alternatively, you may find a charging station on the 8" touchscreen by touching the EV button on the dash below the radio. Perhaps an easier method that you can explore in advance is downloading the Plugshare app to your phone and you can search for charging stations along your route. In any case, I've provided a Chargepoint RFID card that you can use at any Chargepoint charging station for no extra charge. If you want a really fast charge, locate a Chademo station on the app and you'll be able to recharge from empty to at least 70% charge in 30 minutes or less. These stations are generally not free but you can often pay with a credit card for about $10/charge. These stations will utilize the larger charge port with the black cover. If you have any further questions, I'm happy to help.
