Faqs

  • How much does it cost to charge?

Charging costs can differ between locations. However, Tesla superchargers charge by the kilowatt-hour(kWh) and the cost ranges anywhere between free to around $0.28 per kWh. Please be sure to move the vehicle from the charging stall once complete in order to avoid idling fees. Supercharging costs and idling fees are billed directly to the host and will be passed onto the renter after the trip is complete. Non-Tesla charging stations range in cost and are billed directly to the renter. Go here for more information about using superchargers https://www.tesla.com/support/supercharging

  • How long does it take to charge?

Charging rates will differ between locations. However, at Tesla superchargers, it generally takes about 30-45 minutes to charge from 10% up to 90%. From 90% to 100% the rate slows dramatically and isn't recommended unless you're going on a long road trip. Non-Tesla charging stations are generally slower. The provided 110V car charger is EXTREMELY SLOW and can require up to 24+ hours to fully charge the car. This shouldn't be relied upon as a primary source for charging but will be enough to keep the car running. The provided 220V car charger will work with most modern dryer outlets and will typically require 8+ hours for a full charge. This is a good option for overnight charging. Go here for more information about using superchargers https://www.tesla.com/support/supercharging

  • How do I locate charging stations?

Tesla superchargers can be found on the console of the car. These are typically located in and around cities and are often placed near other amenities(i.e restaurants, things to do, grocery stores, etc...). The Plug Share app will also help you identify non-Tesla charging stations near you. These are far more abundant and can be found in most locations. It's a good idea to identify charging locations and to make a plan for charging the car before going on a long road trip. Go here for more information about using superchargers https://www.tesla.com/support/supercharging

  • Does the car drive itself?

Sort of... autopilot is by far the most advanced driver assistance system on the road today. It will do things like change lanes on the highway, pass slower drivers, stop at stop signs/red lights, and navigate highway overpasses. However, it is not without limitations and it is still very important to pay attention while it is engaged. Go here for more information about Tesla autopilot https://www.tesla.com/support/autopilot

  • Is autopilot safe?

Yes, absolutely. However, it is still very important to pay attention while it is engaged. Go here for more information about Tesla autopilot https://www.tesla.com/support/autopilot

  • How often should I charge?

As is with any battery-powered electronic device such as a cellphone, you'll need to charge the car whenever the battery level gets low or it will stop running. This depends heavily on factors such as how fast and frequently you drive, the temperature inside and outside of the vehicle, and traffic conditions. The car is meant to be on 100% of the time and consumes a small amount of energy even while you're away. - Driving slower and accelerating more gradually will conserve battery. - Anticipate about 2 to 2.5 miles per percentage of charge. - Plan your charging stops, especially while on a long road trip. - Plan your charging at your destination. - ABC: Always be charging! (whenever possible) - Don't let yourself get stranded. If you're not sure whether or not to stop for a charge, do it. There are a number of superchargers available for use throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. However, it's very important to keep an eye on the battery percentage and to know where the nearest supercharger is especially if leaving the metroplex where they are less abundant.

Great experience with the Model 3 Performance from Ian. Communication was great and the car was amazing. Aside from a couple of very small cosmetic things with the car, it was perfect. You can rent with confidence from Ian.
