Description

I am not usually one to get attached to material things, but I absolutely LOVE this car. Her name is Tessa. When the recent wildfires threatened to force my wife to evacuate while I was out of town, I told her "Take the Tesla and let everything else burn." I hope you love Tessa as much as I do!

Great car and great communication. Rented this car because honestly we're curious and thinking about getting our own Model Y so we thought it would be a good test run on our 5 day trip around Oregon. First-day jitters definitely experienced some range anxiety as we had a long trip and turns out when you're at the supercharger the battery was set to only fill up to roughly 80 or 90% (you can alleviate this by double clicking on the white line while it charges and moving it over with your finger)...we didn't know this and thought we'd have plenty of charge for a 145 mile trip with 200+ miles charged in the battery -- we ended up finding two super slow chargers along the route, adding an extra hour+ to our tripe and still barely made it to the supercharger station with just 1 mile left displayed on the battery. This was super stress inducing, and I'll chalk it up to not knowing the car or how the battery drains, etc. If we had known that you can double click, move the 'white line' to ensure the battery would get a full that would have elevated the problem and our stress. Other than that the car is truly a marvel and was problem-free the rest of the trip once we kind of got the hang of how the battery performs. The car literally skates across the pavement, I drove a Porsche Boxster S for many years and this easily rivals that performance and then some. I did notice that the driver side wiper/spray doesn't seem to work properly so you can't clean it very well and there's a sound coming from the driver side wheel well like when the wind catches a piece of metal for a moment and bends it slightly. This would happen once or twice an hour of driving, didn't really scare us or anything, and not sure if that is normal or just something you hear when there's no engine note from a car, although I doubt that's the reason -- I imagine some bolt is not properly set in the wheel well itself. I've heard / read that Tesla's have some build issues in their manufacturing process, something you kind of have to live with when you have a budding car company which is building at scale, so I chalked it up to those kind of issues that I've read about. The car feels super safe, the cabin is minimalistic and airy and once you get your bearings with the touch screen, which you need for pretty much everything it's pretty easy to learn it if you click around a big. I wish there was a physical button for the trunk, but pretty much everything else is nicely packed into the software. If you've been curious about driving or owning a Tesla, this is a wonderful machine...I'm grateful to have used it and excited that this company exists to make our future more green. Jack was wonderful to communicate with, easy to make plans for pick up and drop off and I'd happily rent from him again anytime.
