I've been debating about writing this review for over a week, since I brought back my Turo rental, mostly because it simply was the worst experience I've had in the four years I've been using this service to rent cars. To start, I showed up 15 minutes early at the address given. When I got there, I entered a commercial garage where I immediately saw the vehicle up on a jack, and the father of the owner walked in to explain that the car I had reserved and paid for over 24 hours before needed its front tire replaced. There was no one around to do to the work, including the owner. The father frantically called various persons to find out why the car rented wasn't ready, and if there was a replacement. Twenty minutes later (first time ever starting late), neither the car I rented was ready, nor was a replacement available at the current address. I was asked to get into another car with the father and drive to another location in Navan 20 minutes away to pick up a duplicate of the same car. Only because I was already there and late for my later appointments I agreed to drive to second location to pick up what was supposed to be a newer car than originally rented. On the ride over, the father proceeds to ask I pay a higher rate than previously since the car we were getting was newer. It almost came across as a "bait & switch" scheme to get a higher amount of money, which is a serious criminal offense in Canada. I flatly refused to pay any more money than what had already paid. And threatened to call Turo on the spot to complain. He eventually agreed to offer the same rate for the newer car since we had to cancel the current rental and begin a new agreement. The vehicle I ended up with was an old police cruiser which obviously was well used. The interior was filthy, to say the least. Well, the owner of the business continued sleeping in the house at 11 am, the car was parked at, I had to help clean the interior of his personal belongings and leftover garbage before I could leave with it. The middle console was torn out and covered over with cardboard, and the floor mats and other parts of the interior were held together with duct tape. By the time I was on my way, it was almost an hour after my reservation was supposed to have started. Not one part of this experience was proper, professional or even acceptable. Turo should have much higher standards than this before allowing anyone to rent their vehicles.
