The good: “Alex” ("Michael Alexander" goes by his middle name) is extremely kind in his demeanor, and it is obvious that he wants to a top-tier vehicle lender. He did his best to work with my late night arrival, and my delayed departure. If the standard/competition were say, borrowing a friend’s car (for a fee) he would be the 3rd or 4th friend I’d select. The bad: The standard/competition for Turo rentals; however, is the commercial rental companies- First, Alex offered to waive his delivery fee, if I came to his home. (There was no "lock box" method for delivery, as his ad. provided.) I was already getting in late, but agreed to come get the car since I was bumped to a flight that got in at 12:30 a.m. The 15-minute Uber ride; however, cost me about the same amount as his “waived” delivery fee. I would have been at a Hertz counter, and on my way, in the time it took me to: wait for an Uber, ride to his house, and then double-back to my destination. (The alternative offered was: for me to “find” the car in an unknown airport parking lot, which charges $4.00/30-mins., at my expense! Delayed flight, checked luggage, can’t find the car = Too bad @ $4.00/30-mins. My previous Turo rental met me at arrivals, handed me the keys, shook my hand, and met me at departures on the way out. No charge, no fuss, no muss) The car: was “okay,” but was far from Hertz or Enterprise rental-standard: “reasonably” clean, the check engine light was on, the car had a missing hub cap, and the keyless remote didn’t work! (The last one seemed like a small thing, but when you’ve been using keyless remotes since the late 1990’s-- you are no longer used to making sure you lock the car with the key manually. I used the “door lock’ button, forgot I locked doors with the button instead of a remote . . . AAA call + 30 min. wait + 30 degrees = No keyless remote ended up being a BIG deal!) The check engine light was related to an upcoming oil change (I think), and the missing hubcap appeared to be related to a recent light side-swipe on the driver’s side. The car drove beautifully, but there small flaws caused friends and colleagues to ask “which crappy rental place rented this to you?” A question, and small issues, that quickly hinder small joy driving a “not my car, but something new” rental car usually provides. The Verdict: All and all, Alex said he was new to Turo, and I hope these are “newby” related issues. (Hence, the 3-star rating, despite . . .) Accordingly, I am confident that his delivery and vehicle standard will grow to match his pleasant demeanor in no time. I am sure Hertz will be nervous when he does.

Couldn't have asked for more from Alex. Kept me updated the whole way, flexible and patient when an issue arose.
