The car was clean and located just as mentioned. Leonard communicated specifically, prior to the trip, as to where the car was parked. The only issue that we can write about is the force with which the clutch has to be pressed to get the car started but Leonard had already warned about that. The place where one can get affected by this is the car stalls at a junction and one panics to get moving.
Leo is a perfect renter, was flexible when needed and professional in behavior. Things that bothered me were 1. I did not meet him in person while pick up / drop off the car. Car keys location was communicated over the phone and it felt a little weird to say the least. 2. The Air Bag sign was On all the time, meaning this car probably needs a fix for ta Air Bag. The car was pretty old (2002 Prius) and averagely maintained. Felt bumpy on freeways although it served my daily commute purposes well when I needed the most. Not sure if I'll rent this car for trips. All that being said, Leo was very helpful and I thank him for this car I drove for 3 weeks.
Leonard is always a delight to work with! I've rented from him numerous times, and the cars are always very reliable and very clean. I was really in love with the civic, and I hope to rent it again soon. Thanks Leonard!
I was in PA for two weeks on business, and this car was great, especially considering my tight budget. Big rental companies are always out of the question for me. I'm only 23, so they get pretty pricey. I've always liked that Turo doesn't charge much of a young driver's fee. Anywho, a two week car rental for less than $500 was a deal for me.
Some things to note:
- Pick up and drop off involved very little interaction with the renter. he simply left the key with the car on pickup. I felt like a secret agent. It was fun. Drop off was the same. I simply parked the car on the street and left the key locked in the car.
- The car doesn't have a key fob, which means the door has to manually be unlocked and locked. The passenger side door also has to be unlocked from the inside. It didn't bother me much though.
- The front passenger tire was a little low on pressure when I picked the car up. I filled it up and bought a tire pressure gauge which I left in the glove box. I recommend that future renters check the tire pressure upon pickup.
- I drove this car about 300 out of my allotted 900 miles during my rental, and still had a quarter tank of gas left. Great gas mileage.
- The car is pretty fun to drive. It's a stick, so that's a plus, and the aux audio let me listen to my tunes while I cruised over the golden gate bridge. that being said, make sure you read up on the Parking brake hill trick if you plan on going to San Francisco. You don't want to be stalling and burning out the clutch on those steep Hills.
I think those are all the points I wanted to cover. There's nothing super special about this car, but it's cheap as hell and fun to drive. Would rent again.
I had a flat tire when I rented the car in September 2016. Turo provided the required towing promptly. Although the mechanic could not determine what had caused the flat tire, he did say the tire pressure on the other side was low and the wheel alignment had issues. The mechanic also said the car requires inspection to be deemed fit for driving. My experience upto that point was good with the car except that it sometimes used to shake and groan a little on starting.
Leonard was very responsive and punctual to my concerns. The car runs great, awesome on gas mileage. Only downside is I got wet while running the car through the carwash due to a gap opening between the driver door.
Great experience, exactly as advertised - car has good gas mileage, was dependable, and while it's got some miles on it the engine and brakes and all work fine. And it's got a good radio and functional AC. Pickup and dropoff are a simple process.
If you need a car for your daily commute, this car is perfect! It is an old-ish car but still gives great mileage and works great for short commutes! I faced a couple of age-related issues with the car during my month-long rental, but Leonard was extremely prompt to resolve them without any fuss. Must thank Leonard for being very prompt and cooperative during the entire period whenever I had any questions or issues. Looking forward to renting from him again!
Leonard was incredibly prompt with getting back to me with all questions I had. Car was perfect for my trip and insanely efficient with gas which made renting overall affordable. Definitely will rent with Leonard in the future if in the area again. Thanks!
I rented the Toyota Prius 2002 from Leonard.
I think the value of this rental is good if you do indeed need a car for atleast 3 days, and at short notice.
The car, as you can say is old, and struggles a bit on the hilly sections of the bay; however, it functions smooth and everything works reliably,. I drove just over a hundred miles and I refilled 4 gallons, so can say the economy was acceptable. If you're parking in a open cold place (I parked in belmont hills) you may want to leave a couple mins in your morning schedule to let the frost thaw - it may take a bit.
The place of pickup was easy to find, and the communication was smooth.
I rented the Honda civic. I must say, the price is very reasonable and excellent communication from Leonard - he usually responds to messages in minutes. Didn't face any problems with the car either and everything went smoothly.
overall pleased. cheap beater car but its reliable. a little underpowered especially on the hills but handles well. everything works. can't beat the price. only thing i wanted was more pickup and an external audio port on the radio to plug in my phone.
Leonard was very cordial and friendly. the Nissan drove well and was good on gas. It was a fairly inexpensive rental so I wasn't expecting a fancy car. However my only complaint was that the car was quite dirty on the outside. Nothing a quick run through the car wash couldn't have cured. I didn't have time to run it through the car wash myself so I ended up driving around staring at bird poop on the windows and windshield. Otherwise the car was perfect for my purposes and Leonard was a great person to do business with.
Absolutely effortless. I drove to San Mateo to meet Leonard, and he was right there when I arrived, friendly as anyone can be. The key exchange was smooth and he walked over the basics. I was in and out within 2min.
Communication is also around-the-clock. He's there whenever I had any questions and always responded in a timely fashion.
Renting from Leonard was great! He was kind enough to drop us off at the airport after we brought back his car. He also responds quickly and is very helpful. The only thing that was difficult was finding the SF Airport kiosk. It's a bit far from the train stations and airports (about a 15 minute walk over the freeway). Other than that, a great experience overall!
Leonard was great, and the car was fantastic. We only had to refill the gas tank once and it cost $30! The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars was the return at the nearby airport hotel was a bit confusing. They just need better signage and explanation for people returning cars to SFO. And a number for the person in charge would be great too.
Leonard was great! I needed a car last minute to drive to Marin and he accepted my request promptly and provided me with thorough instructions for car pickup. Seamless rental and I highly reccommend him to anyone looking to rent in the peninsula/san mateo area.
I just returned my first Turo FROM SFO back to THE LOT. And all in all it was a pleasurable experience. The car owner, Leonard was very accommodating, a good communicator and very easy to get a hold of. The car did the job and was perfect for the needs that I had for this trip. I picked it up with a full tank of gas and didnt have to put any gas in it until it was time for me to return it. GREAT GAS MILEAGE;)
I thought PERHAPS THAT picking up a relay ride FROM THE SFO AIRPORT and THAN also HAVING TO returnn IT back @SFO. would be stressful, annoying, time consuming and a general pain in the #@!!
but it was fast with no problems to speak of on both ends-From free shuttle service, to the relay staff at the lot , i give it all a two thumbs up. ;)
This was only my second relay rental. So being im still a newbie, i had many questions.......
THANK YOU LEONARD FOR NOT GETTING IRRITATED WITH my many messages.
YOU AND YOUR CAR WERE AWESOME!! Id definitely rent from Leonard again.
Great car good dude Leonard was and he communicated very well but very confused on a incident that is in processed about smoking and would like to get to the bottom of it because I do not even smoke so it would be absolutely impossible for any smoking. To be going on for I and my fiancé were the only twonever in the car and it did not get smoked in while I had it so yes it was a great trip just not happy to have to deal with this incident

Terrific value, excellent experience. The car was clean and easy to drive, with good gas mileage. Leonard is a great renter, helpful and easy to deal with.
California is a strange place. It's beautiful, friendly and unpredictable all at the same time. One needs to be prepared in all of these situations - the beautiful, the friendly, and the unpredictable. Lenny and his bulletproof Honda Civic Coupe allow you to do just that.
Lenny, first of all, is a stand up guy - laid back, easy to work with, and will go the extra mile to make sure your experience is an excellent one. Pickup and drop off is seamless and easy - there's no waiting; you drive the car right away and with little effort. Just the experience of renting with him would be enough to make me rent from him again, even if the car was a dog.
But it most certainly wasn't! The car's much the same - it's all Honda. His Civic is sharp, responsive, and while not very powerful, fun as all heck to cruise through Cupertino's hills with the windows down and some great music on! The manual transmission adds to the appeal with slick shifts and a smooth, easy clutch that anyone can work. Just keep an eye on your gas gauge - the tank is small and on long trips, can go faster than you think!
Lenny and his car are A+. From the hills of Hamilton to gridlock on 101, he and his Honda will make sure you get where you're going. When I come back, he'll be my first call, and I urge you all to do the same - you'd be foolish not to!
Leonard is super nice and willing to help in many aspects. The car is in great condition and has no hassle at all. I feel lucky to be able to rent a car from Leonard. Will definitely come back when I need a long-term rental car!
Car was parked on the corner, easily visible with the lock box. Convenient, simple, and very accommodating owner! Had a minor mechanical issue initially, but Leonard was very prompt with his replies and incredibly considerate. I would definitely rent again!
Car turned out to have flaws that were not mentioned in profile description...brakes made a lot of noise. Once I placed the reservation I received an email telling me the car's dome light didn't work (not a big deal, but would have been nice to know before booking). Then, the night before my reservation began, I received another message saying that the trunk latch was broken and the owner hadn't had time to fix it. I had rented the car with luggage storage and shopping trips in mind, so having a bungee cord hold it closed was far from optimal. I was unable to store anything in the trunk, and it opened and closed loudly every time I went over a speed bump. Also, the gas gauge did not seem to be accurate. Overall, I was very disappointed with this rental.
