I share Big Red on RelayRides because it is a great utilitarian vehicle that doesn't get much use in general as I work from home. It is great for moving things AND I believe it is better to share resources.
Tiffany's communication was quick, informative, and pleasant! Big Red is a great vehicle & Tiffany was nice enough to stock it with all kinds of helpful things (bungee cords, ratchet straps, blankets, etc). Definitely our new go-to when we need a truck!
Tiffany was fantastic to rent from. My nephew moved to DC from Las Vegas and of course we had to do the Ikea run. I needed a truck and found Tiffany's Big Red... the perfect truck, PERFECT. We fit everything and more!
Even though Tiffany was out of the country, renting Big Red was so easy. She communicated faster than others I've tried to rent from and didn't because of response time. She made it so easy for pick up and drop off.
What a great resource to have in the DC area, so convenient and a great way to share resources. I've had such great experiences on Turo. Everyone I've rented from has been great to deal with, responsive and accommodating. Tiffany was no exception... she is great and very responsive!
Even though there were some problems caused by the previous renter, Tiffany was extremely helpful, accessible, and very understanding throughout the whole process. The actual truck, Big Red, was a pleasure to drive and I look forward to renting it again someday. Great experience all around.
Was very communicative and flexible, made the whole rental process a breeze. Vehicle was great and everything worked perfectly, thanks! And I'm sure I made a friend or two on the rural backroads with the political bumper stickers.
Great experience renting Big Red from Tiffany. She was easy to communicate with and provided very detailed instructions. The truck was easy to find and a smooth ride. Definitely will rent from her again!
I am definitely a big red fan and am very grateful to have her available in the Capitol Hill area. It's perfect for people who have some things to move and don't have a large vehicle or a friend with a truck. Tiffany the owner I thought was very nice, very professional and easy to deal with. It's a really great thing that people like Tiffany are willing to participate in services like Turo because it is more efficient and cost effective than renting from places like UHaul. Looking forward to renting Big Red again.
Tiffany was very friendly, timely, and great with communication. She was also super helpful with my move. As well as providing advice on how to best fit furniture and other items, she provided ropes and blankets to secure my belongings. This experience far exceeded my expectations!
This was my first experience with Turo, and I will definitely be back to use this service and this vehicle. Tiffany replied to my request and questions quickly when I was deciding to book the vehicle. When we arrived to pick up the truck, we told her we were new, so she explained more about the program. After that, she showed us where to tie rope so we could haul a box spring on top, explained a few more details about the truck, and we were on our way. The truck ran great and had good visibility for turns and lane changes.
We moved a queen-sized mattress inside the truck, just bending it a little so it would fit. We tied a box spring to the top, and it worked out great. We actually traveled about 20 miles like that, through Georgetown and across the Key Bridge. It might not be a great idea to tie the box spring on top in high winds, but otherwise it works fine.
It was easy to find parking when we returned the vehicle. I called Tiffany when we returned to tell her where we parked the vehicle, and that was it. It was all so easy. Overall, this was a great experience and a great alternative to begging your friends with trucks to move things for you or paying steep Uhaul prices.
It's a truck, & I had a sofa to haul. So I wasn't expecting elegance or comfort, but the vehicle was appropriate my purpose & the arrangements left nothing to be desired. The owners directions were easy to follow, her place easy to find by public transportation. An unexpected bonus was encountering her in person as I returned the truck. She provided friendly and informative conversation and a ride to a more convenient Metro station. I will certainly rent from her again the next time I need a truck.
If you don't have time to read, my recommendation is at the very end of this review..Thanks
Needed to move a mattress and heard about Turo through a friend. Thought I could save a few bucks so looked for the closet truck to rent. Contacted the owner of "big red" and was told hauling a queen size would be no issue. Truck was visibly small when I arrived and I figured it wouldn't work, but sense I was past the point of getting a refund I rented it anyway.
I confirmed my assumption when me and my movers tried to load the mattress, it was way too small for this truck despite promises from the owner. Due to reasons beyond my control I was running late (due to a health issue with one of the movers). About 20 min before my schedule was up, Tiffany sent a bizarre text that I would be charged $50 for every half hour I was late (something that was not stated verbally or in writing before hand) but that she still didn't need the car for another hour. I thought it was a ridiculous charge but agreed to pay whatever. When I said the truck was useless she said she'd give not charge me anything and give me a full refund (yay!..or at least I thought). I declined the refund but decided not to pay the late fee.
To make a bad experience even worst, I left the receipt to the mattress in her truck (doh!). I contacted the owner and she once again questioned why I was late said she was charging me for being late, but at a lower rate (wtf!). I said, I pay the fee when I got the receipt but Tiffany was very unresponsive on this issue. In fact I never got the receipt back. Feel sorry if you forget something valuable in this truck.
This is my last time using Turo. Not so much because of this experience but because everything seems to be a little "on the fly", you don't know what personality ticks of car owners and there doesn't seen to be a vetting process for them. If I was late returning a car to an established rental car business there will be a transparent process in place, as opposed to RR owners pulling numbers out the air and being changed again and again based on what mood they're in. Lastly there is no you could take your grievance to.
There are good reviews for this car owner which is understandable . In all my face to face interactions with her she came off as very nice person but she also seems have a passive-aggressive edge.
My recommendation: simply buy a cheap car, you can get a decent one on Craigslist for around $2k or in a case like mine..Just pay $30 and call U-Haul. You will end up saving more time and money than I did.
First time using Relay Ride and I gotta say, easy as pie. Tiffany was very flexible with my schedule and even offered me a ride back to the metro. The storage in this truck was just what I needed. I transported a Futon to my apartment. The truck came complete with swiss army knife, ropes and bungee chords to hold things in place, and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. TIffany gave me instructions and tips and made the transition buttery smooth. I will definitely keep her and "Big Red" in mind for my next moving adventure.
Owner is super dupper nice and awesome. She is kind enough to explain all the details of her car. Very spacious, very clean, the car has unbelievable space! convenient pick up and drop off location. Highly recommended, overall A+ Experience.
Big Red was great! I was able to move several large items I had bought off Craigslist - including a 7 piece patio table/chair/umbrella set - with a lot more convenience and less cost than any other options I have found out there.
The owner Tiffany was very quick in responding to my reservation request and was a pleasure to deal with. She showed me all the in's and out's when handing off the keys.
I will definitely be booking Big Red again the next time I have large items to move.
Needed to move a couch and this truck fit the bill perfectly. The owner was great to work with, and honestly excited to be sharing her truck with me. If I find myself needing a work truck in the future, it will be Big Red.
Renting Big Red was such a fun (and practical) urban experience. I'd made a craigslist sofa purchase in the neighborhood, then found the truck, also in the neighborhood. Tiffany was extremely friendly and helpful; she explained the truck's basic operation, gave tips on loading it, and also provided various bungee cords and straps in case we needed to secure the back. It was my first Turo experience, and I highly recommend it – especially Tiffany's Toyota!
