The vehicle was out of alignment by a signifcant amount. Likely a previous customer hit a curb at speed and it was never realigned. The steering wheel needed to be nearly 15 degrees off center for the vehicle to drive straight. The tire pressure light came on after 2 days. I checked the pressure that day, 2 rear tires were over inflated by 10PSI. I put the pressure within spec but the light would not turn off. Checked two more times throughout the trip, the tire pressure light refused to disengage although all 4 tires were within specification. Otherwise the drove fine, and the price was right. Not deal breakers, but the vehicle maintenance could definitely be better. The car being out of alignment that much can definitely present a safety hazard.
The trip itself was fine. My only issue is since I had not used turo before I called in advance to find out how to get to airport after returning the vehicle. I was told by the turo employee at the airport lot he would be able to drop me off. I also explained I would be dropping the car off at 530am which is 30 minutes before they open. He assured me that would be no problem. This morning when I arrived to drop off car, no attendant was at the lot and I had to walk 1/4 mile with all my luggage to get out of a paid parking lot to get to my Uber. I usually only use enterprise and will most likely continue too.
Great car, loved that by booking through the Turo direct service I ended up with an unexpected upgrade. This Acura gets great gas mileage, only $17 for round trip gas SF to Gurenville. Attendants at Turo lot were helpful, keep in mind if you get a car directly through Turo just for BART accessible pick up, the lot is walking distance from Milbrae BART, easier and cheaper than the SFO shuttle, etc.
The Turo SFO staff are always great. They even helped us load the car when we arrived late night with two sleeping children. The attendant helped with tricky headrest removal for our car seats. And the return couldn't be easier. Love renting the Turo-owned cars. The Dodge Journey we were given worked very well for our family, and send to have sufficient power. A little slow on the get-up on more steep hills, but overall a very comfortable ride.
I have used RelayRides/Turo several times and this was a slightly disappointing vehicle. The interior had an "old smoke" smell when I picked up the car. Wires were dangling beneath the steering column, and the button on the gear selector kept falling off. Mechanically, something in the front driver's side suspension was clanking badly and gave me some concern. I understand you "get what you pay for" and this was the cheapest car available at the SFO lot, but I've had far better vehicles at this price point at SFO.
Overall great experience- the shuttle to the Turo SF lot is really easy and quick, and the car ran great. Smelled a little like smoke, but the attendant noted that so it didn't effect my record. I'll definitely use Turo again
Car was excellent. I've driven push to start before but this model is extremely high tech. Once I got the hang of it the drive was smooth and comfortable.... Plus I found a bunch of candy which made the ride smooth and sweet!
Upon pickup, the car was in extreme disrepair. The exterior had numerous small dents and scratches on the body, and severe paint damage to the hood.
Mechanically, the car desperately needed maintenance. The oil light was on, there seemed to be a slight misalignment with the front wheels causing minor vibrations and pulling to the right, and there were electrical issues causing cruise control and traction control to be disabled.
The Turo attendant claimed to only have noticed the oil light minutes before, and they were entirely unaware of the other issues. I decided to drive the Subaru anyway for my trip to Yosemite, anyway. The engine idled smoothly and the tires had more than enough tread to perform well in snow so I felt comfortable enough to make the trip rather than canceling and having to find a rental.
Very nice and helpful staff. Pick up and drop off went smoothly. And the location is in walking distance from the Millbrae Caltrain station (without luggage). I really liked the Subaru and would rent it again.
I did not receive the mini cooper as reserved. It had maintenance issues prior to pick up. Substituted new Nissan sentra which was fine for my purposes. Service was convenient and expedient as always. One star off for imo nonequivalent replacement. For this occasion it did not affect me, but in others I could see how one would need the same make or similar car for business, relations, first impressions, etc. Again, service was great.
This was my first time doing any kind of ride sharing and I thought it was easier and better than renting from a rental car company which is what I normally do. I would certainly go this route again in the future.
The Turo lot at SFO is easy to get to and they have a good selection of cars. They are really good about getting you up and running. It took less than 5 minutes to get a car and less than 5 minutes to return. I would definitely go through Turo again.
Car performed well but I couldn't get confirmation that the car was truly all-wheel-drive when I asked Turo sf. This put a burder on me and my fellow riders as we were stuck in the snow for a number of hours until we the snow plows cleared the road. I would have just used my own car.
The clerk at the parking lot of the Aloft is amazing. Good guy and very fast, efficient. However, the shuttles at Aloft were VERY rude and inconvenient. We were left twice by shuttle drivers, adding an extra 30-45 minutes to our trip. The next time I go to SFO I will probably opt out of renting a Turo owned car unless they use their own private shuttles and discontinue service with Ace Parking. Be warned, if you have immediate plans after arrival, the shuttles are TERRIBLE and not nearly as convenient as Turo tells you they are. The car itself was very nice and had good amenities.
Everything went very well. Made my work trips very easy to get to and from. Very smooth drive and great cruise control. Only thing that I did not understand was how to charge the car since it ran on battery and gas.
The car worked well, but there were problems with Turo' new system, so my mileage and pictures were never sent so there was no way to track previous damage or mileage. I was going to take pictures beforehand, but they said there was no need because they did it already. I ended up waiting nearly 2 hours to resolve the issue waiting for Turo managers to come into work at 11 and in the end they just gave me unlimited miles for the trouble, although I was late for an important meeting because I had to deal with this, which shouldn't have been an issue in the first place.
I was extremely disappointed that the car was dirty when I received it as Turo themselves should be setting the example by having cars clean and finding it dirty inside and old receipts in the car is simply not acceptable.
Reserved a Nissan Leaf but when I arrived it was not charged. They offered me a Ford Fesita which worked fine. Don't be in a hurry as only one person working the lot so if you arrive at the same time as others there could be a small wait. But Overall the price was great so worth the minor inconviences.
To my surprise, I was able to book this car on Christmas Day at 5:30 pm for a pick up 9:00 pm. I was suppose to get a Honda but since it wasn't available they gave me a BMW. Oh, Darn it! The service from beginning to the end was great & efficient. I was very happy & will definitely use their service again! Excellent!
Simple, professional, straight forward, no surprises and great customer service. My only suggestion to those using the service, try to use a pickup location instead of directly from the owner. You can still have a good experience working with the owners directly however a pickup location, especially the one at 401 Millbrae Ave will make sure the car is clean, inspected, take pictures, email you your receipts and inspection summary assuring a great experience!
The car was great - no problems there. However the Turo service itself needs a lot of improvement. I still have not received a receipt of my return despite calling the SFO Turo center and asking the person there to explicitly send the receipt to me.
Car is fine, albeit limited acceleration on the highway. Handover at airport not great: 20 min wait for shuttle, car had to be collected from different location (where chargers are located) - another 5 mins - and car was not fully charged. When car was dropped off at airport, no one was there. Had to leave the car close to the booth without handover.
I've only rented from private owners in the past, but was in a rush this trip so decided to rent from Turo SFO. It was really great, and a significantly better experience than I've had with other fleet car rental companies
Checking in and out of this Turo location was very easy. Shuttle runs every 15-20 minutes depending on the time of day. The BMW was in great condition with good wiper blades clean interior. Car had a full tank of gas. Would recommend this car.
