• This BMW belonging to Aimen is a leased vehicle. I do not recommend ever renting a leased from any private owner who lists their car on Turo b/c leased vehicles being rented out like this come with tremendous owner scrutiny.
• Aimen (owner of this car) is friends with the Director of Marketing at Turo (Aimen told me this).
• Aimen (owner of this car) is a digital marketing consultant and she has a working relationship with Turo (they are a past client of hers).
• If you have the top down on this car, luggage will NOT fit in the trunk. The owner does not want any luggage on the back seat. So if you are coming in from out of town and have luggage this car is not for you.
I had a very bad experience in renting this car.
We rented the car for 3 days. We picked it up and dropped it off at the airport. We had the top down the whole time on the car and therefore had to put our luggage in the back seat b/c it would not fit in the trunk. We didn’t know that luggage didn’t fit in the trunk when we rented the car and we didn’t know the owner didn’t want any luggage in the back seat.
Four days after returning the car, Turo contacted me as said the owner claimed there was both exterior damage and interior damage. We were really surprised as we weren’t aware of any. We did not get into an accident and we were barely were in the car. We drove to the San Fran Airport up to Sonoma for a wedding and back. When we checked the car back at the airport and the photos were taken, there was no evidence of any damage and the guy who checked back in the car and reviewed the car with us said everything was okay and good to go. He snapped photos and none of them showed any damage.
However, the owner put in a claim for about indentation marks on back seats from where the two suitcases sat on the seats and additional little internal scratches on different parts of the interior of the car. She said is was from our luggage sitting on the back seats. The owner also made a claim that a wheel was scratched and part of the bumper was scratched. When we picked the car up at the airport these scratches were not shown or in any of the photos, and when we returned the car these scratches were not shown. We picked up and drop off the car at night when it was dark out so perhaps something was missed.
What we really were baffled with is the suitcase indentations for which she filed a claim for. If this car cannot fit luggage in the trunk, and the owner is going to get upset about suitcases being on the back seat, then she should not be renting this car out at the airport where people are flying in with luggage.
When I rented the car it was listed as a “manual transmission.” When we picked up the car, it was an automatic. We were disappointed.
If you have to go through any tolls and tollroads, be 110% positive they will accept cash. I went over a bridge that didn’t accept cash (toll was $7) and the owner of this car told me I had to pay her $35 for the toll. When I told Turo this, they informed me the toll was $7.00 and that’s all I had to pay.
The previous renter of this car left his glasses in a black Oakley case. When my boyfriend and I returned the car we thought the case was ours so I put it in my backpack to take home to the east coast. I notified the owner about this and all she writes was “Please send the glasses to the following person and please send it via a trackable method and send me the tracking number thanks.” She expected me to pay for these being returned and we did not like how she handled this.
This owner should not be renting out a leased vehicle that she does not own. I also think it’s a conflict of interest for her to be renting her car out on this service b/c she is was a consultant to Turo.
Excellent experience with Turo overall especially with Aimen, her husband and this wonderful BMW 3 Series. They are very professional, prompt and easy to communicate with. The long rental was perfect for my extended visit.
The BMW 3 Series is the best in terms of performance, cleanliness and comfort – even for the back-seat passengers. There is no better way to enjoy the wonderful Silicon Valley weather than in this convertible. You can expect to get countless comments like, “Wow. Nice car."
Highly recommended, will rent from them again.
Excellent car. I was impressed with how quiet and comfortable it is with the top down. You can easily have a conversation in a normal talking voice with the top down at 65 mph. The owner (Aimen) was prompt and easy to communicate with and the airport pickup option was very convenient. Hopped on the Westin hotel shuttle (Turo has a parking area there) and the Turo employee had us out in a jiffy. I liked that the Turo employee took pics of the inside and outside prior to our trip. I was very pleased with Turo and Aimen.
