This car was perfect for what we needed. An easy, no frills commuter, good on gas. I would give it a 5, but the stero wasn't working so I had to use my iPhone ;) I would most definitely tent again. Didit was easy to communicate with and had everything ready to go for an easy pick up. Thanks again!
Didit is a great guy. Very warm and welcoming. I rented his protege for a month and it was great. As other reviews said the car isn't perfect but it works well for daily usage. Also it's a good deal compare to rentals. I would definitely recommend.
Didit was courteous and Professional at all times. The car is old, and it shows. But its little quirks make it all the more likable, as the friends who traveled with me constantly said. It's got sturdy handling and will give you no problems at all. As long as you're going in with an open mind about this being a used car, you've got no worries. This car is perfect for local use on a low budget!
The Mazda handled great on the highway, on hills and windy roads and in the city. It's a great car if you want to save money on a rental. We saved around $300. The ac works, brakes were good, radio, etc worked. I'm a clean freak so always carry Clorox wipes with me when I travel so I used those to clean the important areas. I do this to every car I rent.
Didit picked us up at the San Francisco airport one level down from the baggage claim area and then we dropped the car off at the Santa Clara Caltrain station and rode the shuttle over to the San Jose airport. The first shuttle is at 5:19am.
Keep in mind that cars on relayrides are used cars. Didit's car isn't perfect, but I plan to rent it again because it drove out great, it was a safe car and it saved us money. Oh, and he was on time picking us up!
Didit was responsive and kind. The car is totally functional - nothing fancy and that is reflected in its very low price so it's a great bargain. However a few notes: It is listed as being able to be picked up at either SFO or SJC. I was flying into SFO and out of SJC so I thought - great - I'll use this car. For an SFO pick up Didit charged an extra $20 in cash for gas as he lives much closer to the SJC airport. As for the dropoff, this got complicated as I needed to leave an hour later than I wrote in Relayrides and Didit was inflexible around this point due to family commitments, so I would advise future clients to be extremely specific with your pick up and drop off times for Didit from the beginning (just like for a rental car agency). Also the drop off was quite complicated - you have to drive to his house and then he will drop you off at the airport, so it's not a true SJC airport dropoff. Factor in extra time to make that happen. In my case, since he wasn't available, I dropped if off at the Santa Clara train station right behind SJC and parked it there for $5 and then took a free bus to the airport. It was seamless but I thought I was renting a car from the airport kind of thing since that's what it said in Relayrides - so just check into that. If you're coming from San Fran or Santa Cruz region, you will have to drive past the SJC airport to his house first, then double back so he can drop you off. It'll add an hour of prep to get to the airport on time. One more note - the car did not come with a full tank of gas, so I refilled it to full but didn't use that much so this car in the end, instead of $101 for 5 days, came to be about $150. On the other hand Didit was very willing to be helpful and was extremely respectful. I would DEFINITELY recommend this car - just factor in a few of the details before you book. It's still a great bargain compared to other cars! Good luck!!!!
Rented this car for a week, with my traveling consisting of a trip to Gilroy and the rest throughout San Jose. This car is definitely zippy! Smooth controls, nice to drive and Didit is the man--he's easy to communicate with and makes himself available. If you need a car that gets the job done, this is the one!
