This was, without doubt, the worst experience I have had in four years of using Turo. Never before have I had a problem with any car owner, but after this I am unlikely to use Turo again. This trip made it clear to me that, when you rent a car with Turo, you are exposing yourself to the inanity of silly people.
The problems began when the car suffered a puncture to the front passenger side tire during my trip. It was no big deal, but the tire was beyond repair so I had it replaced, at a cost to me of $173. I called the owner to let her know what had happened.
She told me that she had "never heard of this happening before" (seriously, she never heard of a puncture before) and she asked me if I had been "racing the car". I might have laughed this off only for what happened next.
She called me the following day and told me she had been speaking to a friend, who insisted that I should replace the other front tire with an exact match, at a further cost of $173. I contacted Turo and they agreed that this was not my responsibility. She then attempted to blame me for damage to the front bumper, which was a pre-existing condition of the car, pointed out by the owner herself before my trip. The damage to the bumper was quite extensive, clearly the result of an impact and nothing to do with a punctured tire.
I have spent a ridiculous amount of time dealing with this issue, simply because I had a puncture during my trip. I would advise anyone without the patience of a saint to avoid this car, because if anything out of the ordinary happens, you will have to deal with the kind of person who says: "I've never heard of that happening before, I'm worried that maybe you've been racing my car", when you tell them you had a puncture. It is simply not worth the irritation.
