Honda Fits are awesome! They get great gas mileage - 27 city / 33 highway. And they have more space inside than you'd imagine: the back seats fold totally flat, and also fold up and back for tall items.
We have a Yakima Raptor rack on top, and another bike or two can fit in the back if seats are folded down. We keep an iPhone 5 charger and AUX audio jack on the dash board for plug-in and jam/navigation ease. We also have a droid charger in the glove compartment.
I'm located just 2 blocks from the N. Prescott stop on the Yellow Line MAX (light rail). The Yellow Line connects directly to Amtrak, Greyhound, BoltBus and downtown. I'm also on a biking street, just 2.8 miles to downtown.
Transit time from the PDX Airport is one hour; you only walk about 3 blocks total for the commute (via the Red Line, see photos for connection details, we love the the Transit app: http://thetransitapp.com). Otherwise a 20-minute, $35 taxi ride from the Airport.
Let me know if you need the following add-ons (no additional charge):
- 2014 Oregon State Wildlife Area Pass (for Saive's Island Beaches, FYI not the same as a Mountain Recreation Pass)
- Curious Gorge (hiking book about Multnomah Falls and surrounding Columbia River Gorge)
- Biking Portland book
- Bike helmets
- Rear facing carseat (or two). Self install.
