HALF A CAR
- half the seats
- half the engine
- half the weight
- half the fuel consumption
- twice the value!
This is the most fuel-efficient car ever sold in America. It's rated at 70 mpg on the highway, but is getting 58 - 64 this summer (2015) when I drive it. Renters have ranged from 46 mpg to 74 mpg. The car redefines the term "high performance". A Porsche Carrera GT is loud, rough, and requires retraining of how to use a clutch, but it's still a great car. Be aware that the Insight also sacrifices driver comforts to achieve high performance. When I drive more than a few hours at a time, I wear Westone WR20's to turn the car into a Lexus. ;) Buy a pair, they're like sunglasses for your ears.
GUARANTEED LOWEST PRICE FOR LONG TRIPS
Send me a message if this isn't cheaper than taking your own car, another rental car, or a bus or train. Need to drive somewhere like Upstate New York, Dartmouth or Philly for the weekend? You can make it there and back in one 10 gallon tank.
If you don't drive a manual transmission yet, I can give you a lesson. If you can already drive stick, I'll take you for a check ride to ensure you don't have the habits of downshifting to first before the car stops or holding the clutch down in between shifts or while coasting. If you've driven a classic Alfa Romeo, you already know about the neutral pause. If not, I'll show you before your trip. On a lightweight transmission such as this one, there's no first or reverse synchronizer so it's a little different than what you may be used to. Once you get used to treating the shift lever with the finesse you show the clutch instead of flicking it as you would a switch, all cars you drive in the future will thank you.
I installed nice speakers and an HD radio / CD player with USB/iPhone and aux inputs. You can also request to borrow my Valentine 1 radar detector or EZ-Pass transponder.
