Description

The car that put electric transportation on the map. It is roomy, comfortable, powerful, smooth, and big—a cross between a sporty land yacht and a spaceship. This is the P85+ so range is officially 250 miles in ideal conditions, likely ~200 on highway. See us to discuss charging and care—some conditions apply. We will coach you on charging and how to manage energy to get the range this car can deliver. We will verify insurance and ID. Unless you already drive a Tesla, plan on a 30 minute tutorial to learn how this Model S operates. It's very different from most cars. A computer touchpad is central to the controls. The P85+ is fast and stylish. Please drive safely, for your own sake and that of others (and our car). This car is almost completely silent when moving slowly. If you're in a parking lot or an intersection, pedestrians probably won't hear you. Please watch out for them. This car has a sun roof, which is really fun to use. Close it in the rain, or anytime you park the car where rain may fall. The car has an adjustable suspension, controlled from the big central touchpad on the dashboard. On smooth highways, it runs best in "low" mode. On regular streets, "standard" is good. The "high" and "very high" settings allow you to avoid scraping the bottom of the car, for example when you are pulling in and out of a driveway on a hill. This car is not available for off-road driving. Please drive it only on paved or well graded road surfaces.

Sorry, no pets and no smoking in this car. Please return the car clean. If you smoke anything in this car, we will charge you a $500 cleaning fee. Stick to good roads. This is not an off-road vehicle and is not suitable for rough back-country roads. Drive safely. Watch out for pedestrians, often they can not hear you coming at slow speeds. Set suspension height to low for freeways, standard for in-town roads. Do not drive long distances in higher settings—it wears out the tires faster, reduces handling agility, reduces the driving range you can get. Battery guidelines: always keep the battery above 10%. charge, and plan to recharge before you get below 20%. Never run the car down to zero charge, it can damage the battery. The Tesla supercharging network is available. When needed, the charging cable in the trunk has an adapter for use at widespread Level 2 charging stations or to plug into 120v house power (for example, for overnight charging). Overnight chargjng is “best practice” for EVs including Teslas because it charges while you sleep and it helps preserve battery life. Charging can take some time, so plan your trips to allow for that.

FAQ

  • How do I charge the car?

We will do our best to start you off with a full charge. We will also show you how to charge the car. This car comes with a standard Tesla charging connector, and we provide a cable that has a Level 2 adapter. Level 2 chargers are the most widely available kind. However, they are slow. So if you're planning a trip beyond the metro Seattle area, the standard advice for driving an electric car still applies: plan ahead to identify where you will stop and charge. Leave enough time to get the charge you need.

  • Can I rely on the dashboard read-out that shows miles of driving available in the battery?

Not really. The readout of miles you can drive provides a rough index ,but it overstates how far you can drive. Seems the gauge operates on assumptions about "optimum" driving for conserving battery power. In the real world, driving consumes more power, and it draws down the battery faster. A rule of thumb: the car usually delivers 25-30% fewer driving miles than the dashboard indicator. We find battery oercentage gives an accurate readout. We advise fuests ro set the display to show that instead of miles available.
