Description

***PLEASE read all below before booking!*** Long range, Dual Motor, All-Wheel Drive, Full Self Driving package *ONE-DAY rentals bookable only 5-days out or less.* **TWO-DAY rentals bookable only 21-days out or less.** FREE Pickup/Dropoff for trips two days or longer (please read details below) I’m one of only a few Portland Tesla owners who will pick you up at the airport (or anywhere else) and show you the details of the car in person, and save you Uber/Taxi fees (for trips 2 days or longer). This will give you the best Tesla experience, knowing how to operate the car and all of its features from the moment you drive away. (You can also opt to pickup the car at my house in North Portland, easily accessed from airport or downtown) FREE delivery includes a drive back to my house in North Portland, where I'll handoff the car. There is a 10-mile delivery limit from my house. Higher distances will be charged at $1.50 per mile from my house. NO DELIVERY after 10:30pm, so please no flights arriving after 10:20pm. If you have a late flight, I can arrange for late-night pickup, or deliver the car to a Portland location in the morning. If you have a late flight, feel free to book anyway and let me know so we can agree on a plan that will work! Delivery to your destination WITHOUT the drive back to my house will incur a $20-$40 destination fee (depending on distance -- this covers my Uber ride home). Same rate again if you do not wish to return to my house at end of the rental. (This fee covers my Uber/Lyft cost) Enhanced Autopilot (self steering), 245 to 260-mile range when 90% charged, Bluetooth, streaming radio/internet/navigation, AM/FM, phone chargers, heated seats, roomy trunk in back and small one in front. FULL-SELF DRIVING package... option demonstrates traffic signal interaction, but does NOT fully drive the car... see FAQ for details. These are a couple websites to plan your charging: https://www.tesla.com/trips https://www.plugshare.com/ To review how the Model 3 works, you can watch this video in advance. https://www.tesla.com/support/Model-3-videos# We also have an AirBnB, which means I would drive you from the airport to your accommodation, and also plug in the car at our house during your stay! Check it out at: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/15910855?s=51 NOTE: Charging past 90% accelerates the degradation of the battery - The car is set to stop at a 90% charge. Do not adjust the settings above 90%. If that is done, there will be a $50 fee applied. This is tracked by my Tesla app. NOTE: The car has GPS and I can track its location at any time. I do not monitor your trip, however. The feature will be used should any issues arise or to coordinate your return. NOTE: 2-day minimum for bookings that start more than 5 days from today. 3-day minimum for rentals starting more than 21 days from today. *NOTE: Supercharger fees will be billed back to you after the trip. The Supercharger rate is $0.28-0.41 per kWh, and you get about 4.1 miles per kWH, or about 6.9 cents per mile. (A gas car with 35 mpg and gas at 3.50 would cost .10 per mile). (Rates may be higher during business hours) *NOTE: There is a charging cable in the rear trunk, and you may also plug in to standard, home 110v outlet, but you will only gain 1-3 miles of charge per hour. There MAY also be an adapter for higher voltage/amp household plugs, like the ones used for most dryers. If you can get the car close enough to one of these outlets, you can charge at about 20-22 miles of charge per hour. These adapters are limited in quantity so may not be available. If you specifically want this adapter, please request before your trip.

1. No smoking or vaping. You will be charged a $50 minimum fee if smoking is evident. NO TRANSPORTATION OF MARIJUANA IN THE CAR. NO PEOPLE IN THE CAR WHO HAVE RECENTLY SMOKED IT. ANY EVIDENCE OF SMELL WILL BE A MINIMUM OF $50 fee. 2. No pets allowed. A $50 cleaning fee will be incurred if evidence of pets in present. 3. Cleaning: I do not charge for post-trip cleaning for dirtiness on outside of car, so washing it is optional. A cleaning fee will apply if the INSIDE of the car is exceptionally messy, such as mud, food, or evidence of pets. You may buy the $20 cleaning extra to avoid this charge. 4. Charging past 90% accelerates the degradation of the battery - The car is set to stop at a 90% charge. Do not adjust the settings above 90%. If that is done, there will be a $50 fee applied. This is tracked by my Tesla app. 5. DEPLETION LIMITS: Allowing the charge to go below 20%, or 60 miles, is also bad for the battery. This is permitted once during your rental, but if you do it more than once a $15 fee will be levied for the second time, and each time beyond that. Going below 7%, or below 22 miles of range, will result in the $25 fee, even the first time. 6. IF YOU DRAIN THE BATTERY COMPLETELY THERE WILL BE A $100 FEE, in addition to any towing or service charges incurred. 7. You can avoid the time and distance to charge the car by buying the Prepaid EV charge for $29 on your reservation. Otherwise, if the car is returned with 10% less charge than when your trip started, you will be charged 0.25 per mile below the check-out mileage. For example, if the car was at 250 miles at start of the trip, and you return it with 220 miles, you would be charged $7.50 (0.25 x 30).

FAQ

  • How do I charge the car?

    1. You can charge the car at Tesla superchargers (fastest, about 45 minutes from 20% full), third-party Level 2 charges (medium, about 8 hours), from standard home 110v outlet (about 2.5 days), or a 220v home outlet with correct plug configuration (like used for many dryers)(about 8 hours). 2. The charging port is at the rear of the car on the driver's side, under the black panel that holds the red reflector. Press the bottom of this panel lightly and it will pop open. Back into the supercharger space and plug in the cable. It will know my car automatically, begin charging, and I will be billed later. Do NOT close the port manually. It will close on its own. 3. When you take the Tesla, it will be charged to a maximum of 90% (this helps preserve battery life), or a range of up to 260 miles. It should be returned with close to the same level. The nearest Tesla Superchargers are in Vancouver, WA (north of my house) and Tigard, OR (south of my house). These are the only two Superchargers in the area and they are NOT convenient to central Portland. Be sure to include time for changing into your plan. You can use https://www.tesla.com/trips to map your trip. 4. PENALTY FEE: You can avoid the charge time AND fees by buying the Prepaid EV charge for $29 on your reservation. Otherwise, if the car is returned with 10% less charge than when your trip started, you will be charged 0.25 per mile below the check-out mileage. For example, if the car was at 240 miles at start of the trip, and you return it with 200 miles, you would be charged $10.00 (0.25 x 40). 5. Please do not go below 20% charge (or 60 miles of range remaining), as this also can be tough on the battery. If it can’t be avoided, this is permissible once during your trip, but you will be charged a $25 fee for each time it happens beyond that, or for ANY time it gets below 7%. 6. I will be billing you back for supercharging after the trip. You can also use third-party chargers such as ChargePoint by setting up your own account. 7. There is a charging cable in the rear trunk, and you may also plug in to standard, home 110v outlet, but you will only gain 4 miles of charge per hour. This is good for keeping the charge topped off overnight. There are also two adapters for higher voltage/amp household plugs, like the ones used for most dryers. If you can get the car close enough to one of these plugs, you can charge at about 20-22 miles of charge per hour. 8. Superchargers will incur extra costs if left plugged into the car after charging is complete. You will be responsible for any of these charges. 9. Supercharger rates may be higher during business hours. This is the case at the Tigard location. 10. You can also buy the “Extra” of prepaid charge for $29, meaning you won’t need to bring the car back fully charged (but above 40 miles of range remaining).

  • What else should I know about supercharging?

SUPERCHARGER tips Here are four points that will improve your Supercharger experience: 1. NAVIGATE to the Supercharger which will WARM UP the battery: Always set the destination on the screen to the Supercharger. The car will then “Precondition” the battery for supercharging. In addition, it is best (but not required) to charge after the car has been driving for at least half an hour. The preconditioning and driving will warm up the battery and make charging go faster. You can enter into Navigation “Supercharger ________” with the blank being the city where its located, such as Vancouver or Seaside. 2. CHOOSE the correct stall: Tesla superchargers have two stalls per charger. If cars are connected to both stalls of a charger, the charge is much slower. So try to choose a stall that is not connected to another car already parked and charging. Stalls are numbered 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, etc. Both #1’s are connected, so if someone is already at 1A, don’t use 1B. Of course, if it’s crowded, you may have no choice. 3. DO NOT get LOW: as explained elsewhere, going below 20% charge is discouraged, and penalty fees may apply. But it also will make supercharging slower. Try to arrive at the chargers with at least 20% (or 60 miles left of range). 4. Please note, idle fees will be applied if you leave the car plugged in to a supercharger after charging is complete. This can be $1.00 per minute and will add up fast. Rates on superchargers may be higher during business hours (especially at the Tigard location) There are now two sets of SC’s in Vancouver. The North Vancouver Supercharger is in a Fred Meyer parking lot and easy to find via navigation. The closest ones to Portland are at the Vancouver Mall and also easy to find via Navigation. The Tigard SC is in a parking garage on the south end of the Washington Square Mall at the border of Tigard/Beaverton, and more difficult to find. It’s on the LOWER level of the parking garage outside Macy’s. The top lot has Tesla branded chargers, but they are slower destination chargers; superchargers are on the level below. A Supercharger should give you between 100 and 500 miles of charge per hour. Anything slower is not a Supercharger.

There are also superchargers in Hillsboro (west of Portland), Woodburn (30 miles south of Portland on I-5), and Sandy (28 miles east of Portland on Hwy 26 toward Mt. Hood).

Also in Oregon: Seaside, Lincoln City, Salem, Detroit Lakes, Springfield, Bandon, and Bend. In Washington: Kelso, Chehalis, Downtown Seattle, Auburn, and Aberdeen.

  • How do I try the Full Self Driving features?

This Car has FSD, or Full-Self-Driving package. IT DOES NOT SELF-DRIVE. THIS FEATURE IS ONLY IN THE EARLY STAGES OF WHAT WILL BECOME FSD IN THE FUTURE. Under Autopilot settings, while the car is in PARK, turn on "Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control (Beta)." This will demonstrate the Beta version of Full-Self-Driving when you engage Auto-pilot. Mainly, it will stop at all stop signs and traffic lights, whether red or green. When approaching a green light, you can override the stop by pushing the right-hand stalk down, or pressing the gas pedal lightly. You must also do the same when stopped at a red light with no car in front of you, once the light turns green.

  • Delivery fees explained:

As explained in vehicle description, for trips 2 days or longer, the "Free Delivery" option includes me picking you up at the airport or chosen location (within 10 miles) and driving you back to my house. You then return to my house after your rental, and I will drive you to airport, or chosen location. The following explains the THREE exceptions to this FREE service: 1. DELIVERY OR RETURN WITHOUT DRIVE BACK: if you want me to leave the car at your location, or pick it up after your trip without my standard drive back to my house, the minimum fees are as follows FOR EACH WAY (pickup and return). If the Uber or Lyft cost is higher, including tip, you may be charged that amount instead. Less than 1 mile: FREE
 1 - 5 miles: $25
over 5 to 8 miles: $35 (includes airport) over 8 to 10 miles: $40 over 10 to 13 miles: $45 over 13: round to nearest multiple of 5, then add $35 (example, 22.6 miles = $60) ALL ABOVE subtract $10 for 1-day rentals w/driveback to house.
 2. ONE DAY rentals WITh Driveback to house: ALL ABOVE subtract $10 for 1-day rentals w/driveback to house. One day rental WITHOUT driveback, all above PLUS $10. 3. LONG DISTANCE DELIVERY: if I need me to pick you up or return you to a distance greater than 10 miles from my house, I will charge you $1.50 per mile. So if you live 16 miles away, it will be a $24 charge. If 9.9 miles, there is no charge. Please note, this is for my standard practice of picking you up and bringing you back to my house.

Jeff was great! Easy to communicate with and helped me to feel comfortable driving my first Tesla. I didn’t have easy access to a Tesla Supercharger but Jeff included the adapter and wall charger which made it possible to charge almost anywhere. Easy pick up and drop off. Can’t wait to rent from him again next time we are in Portland!

Jeff was really helpful; he picked us up from and dropped us off at the airport, which saved us a bit of money not having to get an Uber to the vehicle. He gave a comprehensive tutorial on the Tesla since it was our first drive. Vehicle was super clean and clearly well cared for.

Jeff was an excellent car host(?), super helpful with showing me the features of his Tesla and with an unexpected trip change. Definitely recommend him and the model 3.
