If you're shopping for a Model 3, you probably already know what you're getting yourself into. 😏This car is fun all the way. Handles like a dream. Speedy. Incredible visibility. Spacious. Cozy. I am in love with it and you will be too. For what it's worth, I keep it meticulously clean, and I've barely driven it—under 8k miles. It's basically brand new. In case you're wondering, black seats stay cool, even in the summer months. NOTE: THE ORANGE DECALS YOU SEE IN THE PICTURE WERE DAMAGED, AND I AM AWAITING REPLACEMENTS. IN THE INTERIM, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE IN CARPOOL LANES WITHOUT AT LEAST 1 PASSENGER. Please feel free to contact me with any lingering questions/doubts. I keep the car parked in a locked garage below my building. If I'm away when you book, I will leave instructions to get into the garage. The garage door opener is in the center console—it'll get you in and out of the garage, so you can return the car right where you found it at the end of your trip. Pro tip: The orange EV decals give you FREE PARKING at all meters in Santa Monica. Just obey the time limits (e.g. if it's 2 hour parking, the limit still applies). Also, this doesn't extend to city parking structures and lots. Just meters on the street.

NO smoking and NO pets in the car. Absolutely NO off-roading! Please be courteous and do not do anything that will introduce strong odors or lots of hair / dirt. Please do not have sharp objects in your pockets or clipped to your belt. There are all-weather floor mats to help keep the carpet clean, BUT PLEASE be considerate and minimize the amount of dirt / sand / mud you bring into the car! Remember (Turo rules as well as mine): you may not use this car on a track or any way other than “normal” street driving. *CURB RASH* AVOID THE CURBS! Curb rash is a very real thing with this car, and since it has such nice rims, it's also something I cannot simply ignore. Please avoid curbs at all costs (these wheel rims are EXPENSIVE), but if you do somehow encounter an issue, please let me know up front. I'm testing a new "policy" so that each renter will pay $15/inch of curb rash that they cause ($25/inch if they don't tell me up front). I will try my best to let you know before your rental and to point out the curb rash that may already be present. I'm not trying to "gauge" anyone, but repairing these wheels to keep them nice for everyone is not trivial. Thanks in advance for avoiding the curbs! (This is for simple curb rash only - more extensive damage to wheels will have to be addressed on a case-by-case basis.) *WASHING* Please do NOT use a carwash with BRUSHES! You don't usually need to wash the car at all, but if you feel compelled, PLEASE be sure to use a "brushless" or "touchless" carwash. Do NOT use that foaming brush thing! *CHARGING* You CAN use any Tesla Supercharger while you're using my car without needing to use a credit card or downloading / installing anything on your phone; charging is NOT FREE however! Please keep in mind that Tesla could also charge an "idle fee" of 50 cents /minute if you do not move the car very soon after charging is complete (and $1/min if the chargers are full). If you do incur any supercharging and/or idle fees, I will simply request reimbursement from you for that amount (Turo currently doesn't charge anything extra for this request!). Thanks for your understanding.

FAQ

  • Does it have autopilot?

    Yes. The car has autopilot, which means it will keep you in your lane, maintain the speed of your choosing, and keep you from running into the car in front of you on surface streets and highways (though it works better on highways). That said, you'll need to keep your hands on the wheel or it will detect that your attention is elsewhere, and autopilot will turn off. Also—autopilot does not absolve you of your responsibility as a driver. If it looks like the car is gonna hit a curb, umm, do something! The robots are not infallible...yet. If you don't want to use this feature, you don't have to! It won't turn on unless you turn it on (instructions provided upon booking).

  • Tesla's are cool, but, won't charging be a pain!?

    Charging is no biggie. Close to home, the easiest way to get it done is at the local Supercharger in Santa Monica. On the road, the car can always direct you to nearby superchargers. The car will be charged between 80% and 90% when you pick it up. Please do the same before returning it. Charging the battery from nearly empty takes just under an hour. At peak times, the cost for a full charge will be under $30. Most often, it's closer to $10. Generally, people find that fuel costs for a Model 3 are about 1/4 of fuel costs for a gas car. Since the car is connected to my Tesla account, the fuel costs get billed to me. Per Turo policy, I will pass those charges on to you after you return the vehicle. If the car is not charged to 80% or more when you return it, there are additional fees dictated by Turo: https://support.turo.com/hc/en-us/articles/203990730-Paying-for-fuel One more heads-up about charging: When using Superchargers, you must move the car as soon as charging is complete. If you stay plugged in after the charge finishes, Tesla will bill me (I believe it's $1/minute, and I'll pass along those charges to you). It's no fun, but easily avoidable!

  • What about that "full self driving" thing I heard of?

    No, this car doesn't have full self driving. In fact, most of the FSD features have not even been released to the public yet. What does this mean for you? The car will not stop at red lights and stop signs, even with autopilot enabled (you have to do that yourself). It also will not park itself, and will not change lanes on the freeway by itself. Other than that, there's really no difference between autopilot and FSD at the time of me writing this FAQ!

Carla was a great host and her Tesla Model 3 was amazing. She answered all of the questions I had through the app and she kindly showed me how to operate the car when I arrived to pick it up as well. I rented it bc I wanted to experience what it’s like to own one (at least for a weekend) and I got exactly what I was looking for. So many amazing features and it’s very comfortable too. It’s quick and a thrill to drive. I was very impressed. Highly recommend renting this car!

5 stars isn’t even enough! The best experience I’ve ever had renting any car! The car was pristine, brand new and well kept. It was an absolutely perfect experience and very easy to get in touch with Carla. The model 3 is also a very fun car :) I would definitely love to drive this car again.
