My boyfriend and I had a terrible experience with this host and his BMW 428i. (THURSDAY NOV.19) First day we picked up the car I noticed a light on the dashboard indicating that the back passenger tire needs air. I took a look at the pressure on the screen and it said it had enough air. I got a text message from the host and said the tire light is on because of the cold weather and once I start driving it, it should build back up and if not to go to the discount tire shop and have them put air in it. So me hoping that it is just the cold weather since I looked at the pressure and it was fine I let it be and thought everything was fine. The first day I was mostly settling in. I didn’t use the car like that to see if the light would turn off or if the tires needed air. (FRIDAY NOV. 20) So on my next day I drove to the discount tire shop to see what’s going on and they also confirmed the tire had air so right after I went to a family house and had breakfast there and once breakfast was done we came out and noticed that the same tire was flat. We put air in it and I notified the owner as soon as possible because we started noticing things with the car as far as body work and the tire looked worn out. He told me that “it is a new tire and to take it to the discount tire shop and have them look at it”. I said “so am I suppose to pay for whatever they need to do to fix it?” He said “if it’s a nail in the tire they won’t charge if its anything else he will zelle or cash app me.” I said “okay,” I took it to discount tire and they checked the tire and said it had air but the light never came off so they checked all of the tires for air. They said all the tires have air and I should be fine to drive. I proceeded with my vacation because I was only there for 4 days and I never been to Texas and had reservations and planned places to go for my birthday! A family member gave us a tire pump and advised us to keep an eye on the pressure of all the tires while driving to Houston, everything was fine but the light never turned off. We reached to Houston at 5pm with all the tires still fine with air in them and stayed at a family’s house. We went out at night but did not use the bmw because my boyfriend and I don’t drink and drive. (SATURDAY NOV. 21) The very next morning the tire was flat again. We used the portable pump to put air in the tire and told the owner again about the flat and again he told me to take the car to the discount tire shop. When we arrived at the discount tire shop they told me that all four tires had air and that we would be fine. I told them it keeps going flat and the indicator in the car hasn’t turned off. They told me I would have to 3 hour wait for them to check it. Mind you I have so much I have to do this day because I’m leaving the next day to go back home. So I left to go back to the family members house to get ready for my day and find a different discount tire shop and when we did they told me we had to wait for 2 hours. I waited for some time but became frustrated because I had to miss out on something I had planned and late to something else. So I asked the people at the discount tire shop if it was okay to leave the car keys and they call me to pick up the car they said yes that’s okay. I took a Uber everywhere I needed to go and it was NOT cheap! By 5:30pm they called me and told me to come back to the shop. I got to the shop and they said the indicator wasn’t turning off because it’s not the tire it’s the actual rim that is cracked so that caused the leaking air from the tire. I told them it needs to be fixed because we leave tomorrow. They fixed it and I told the owner about it. I sent the picture of the receipt and he zelle me the money back. I spoke to the guy who replaced the rim and he told me I should get a refund if this was a rental because they (the owner) should’ve been knew the car had issues. He even gave us his number and name if I ran into other issues and if the owner needed to talk to him. (SUNDAY NOV. 22) On my last day I returned the car and expressed to the owner how inconvenient this whole trip was for us from putting in air continuously to finally getting it fixed. He said he will discuss with his partner on giving a refund or partial refund. He wrote me 3 days later for a reimbursement for gas saying that I lied and drove all the way to Houston and caused the cracked rim. This was not true we repeatedly put air in the tires and and monitored the air pressure through the screen. I have picture evidence to support this and I still have the portable tire air pump with me! I’m highly upset because there’s no way a 3 hour drive with me putting air in the tires and checking on it the whole time could’ve caused the cracked rim and the host knew that before I left for Houston the tire was flattening and I was repeatedly refilling it. I spoke to Turo about this and they said he has to approve the refund which is unacceptable they should have a team for investigation for situations similar to mine. It is so sad that people will scam you in anyway and can’t do a business the right way! Do no not book with him unless you are looking for a dishonest host with vehicles he does not tend to. I am still dealing with this issue and unfortunately if this isn’t resolved positively I will have no other choice but to take legal action.
