*TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH CAR AND HOST - UNSAFE AND POORLY MAINTAINED*
I had a 3-day trip planned with my friends, and we were all pretty excited about it. Unfortunately, the rental car I received had several significant issues that led me to return it earlier than planned.
First, within the first 4 hours of use and less than 100 kilometers, the front right tire became punctured. The tire showed clear signs of deterioration and poor maintenance, with visible wear and tear on the treads, indicating it was not in good condition when I received the car.
Additionally, the car had several mechanical issues. Shortly after picking up the vehicle, I started receiving repeated dashboard warnings, including messages indicating "Turn off car engine. Oil pressure too low" and "WARNING: Please add oil immediately." These alerts suggest a serious problem with the car's oil system that could affect its performance and safety. There was also a persistent "Service Due" error message every time the car was started, raising further concerns about the vehicle's maintenance and overall condition.
Throughout this period, I tried reaching out to the owner via the Turo App about the engine warnings, but they did not offer any assistance or solutions. The only "help" the host tried to provide was to ask me to fill the oil in the engine. Why was the car not serviced properly before being given to me to rent? Am I responsible for filling the engine oil?
To address the tire issue, I contacted Roadside Assistance (RSA) at midnight, but assistance only arrived to change the spare tire at 6 a.m., despite multiple follow-ups with both RSA and the towing company. I had to pay $20 for the inconvenience caused to the landlord of my friend's house to keep the car parked in their driveway overnight while waiting for RSA to arrive and replace the flat tire with the spare.
Given the tire damage, mechanical problems, continuous dashboard warnings, and the lack of support from the host, I felt it was necessary to return the car earlier than planned for safety reasons.
As a result, my 3-day trip was canceled, causing a lot of inconvenience and disappointment. Additionally, the entire situation led to me being made fun of within my friends circle, further adding to the frustration and embarrassment.
This experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing. I do not recommend renting this car or anything else from this host as the vehicle was unsafe and poorly maintained, and the support from the host was severely lacking.
