The car was wonderful, got great gas mileage and it deserves 5 stars! That said, the host Dani left much to be desired so the 1 star is really for the car as there isn't a 0 star option. [the pickup] He came off as nice at first but should have know when I picked up the car that I was dealing with a charlatan when he made the most odd and off-putting comment saying that I ruined his Sunday because my flight was delayed 3+ hours which was out of my control. I cannot help if the plane has issues and we had to switch planes. I did let him know before I even got on our almost 6 hour flight to San Diego and he said ok. He was real quick to take the pictures and said that he already took all the pictures needed and not to worry me taking any more pictures which didn't strike me as strange but then made an odd comment about the last person who rented his car got a small door ding has refused to pay him to fix it calling Dani "petty". I always like to give people a fair chance and figured maybe that last guy was just a jerk but the last guy was right... he's worse than petty. He's a shyster. Please read on [the drop off] I had to return car a day early because our flight earlier than anticipated which he actually had no problem with. When I bring the car back (just fully gassed and fully washed) he went right to the rear bumper after I parked. He was fussing about 2 scuffs (not scratches) on the bumper that could easily be buffed out. He gave me this sob story about how he's going to have to have the whole car detailed (after it was just washed!) which he charges $160 and he barely make any money. BTW hosts cannot charge more than $50 for cleaning per Turo policy unless of coarse of smoking or pets etc. He wanted me to Venmo $160 to him right then which I didn't feel comfortable with and I said we should handle this through the Turo app. He was reluctant but agreed only if sent him a message on Turo to agree to pay for a car detail service to buff out the bumper. I did send a message stating I would (not a set amount). He went on and on about saying I will have bad karma if I don't pay him. We then part.... [at home post rental] Dani kept bugging me to pay him and give a nice review. then harassing me to pay and move on. I then dispute the $150 additional charge ($50 for cleaning and $100 for tickets/tolls and he said the $100 was tacked on to ticket\tolls because he can't charge more than $50 for cleaning) I tried to be fair and negotiate to pay just $50 for cleaning and then he gets nasty telling me I was drunk when picking up and dropping off the car! Not very smart on his part if was for letting me take the car if I was which I was not. The nerve to tell me I will have bad karma. In retrospect those scuffs could have been there and I didn't notice them. He went right to the spot in question after I parked when returning the car. Also when I picked it up I didn't get all the pictures with my phone as he reassured me that he had them all and hurried me along. All I have to say is, if you DARE rent from this guy, TAKE PICS OF EVERY INCH OF THE CAR!!

The car was fine. The owner is petty. He is trying to charge me $675 to fix a ding smaller than an inch. Turo's own policy says, "normal wear & tear are dings smaller than 3 inches."
