The outward appearance of the car was nice, however once we drove down the street we noticed an extremely loud squeaking/grinding sound from the brakes. This noise could be heard even with the windows up and over the radio. When we called Martin about the brake noise he said that he knew about the squeaky brakes and had had them checked out and that the brakes were fine. Unfortunately he did not notify us of this condition prior to the rental. This noise was very embarrassing when pulling in to hotel valet and at restaurants. We actually ended up Ubering a lot to avoid driving the car due to the noise and only drove about 1/3 of the miles out of the 600 miles that were allocated in the rental contract. Martin also accused us of damaging the ashtray door in the back seat because it would not close completely. We did not use the ashtray as we are all non smokers and no one used the back seat charger. There was not visible damage to the ashtray, his only complaint was that it did not shut all the way. Nothing was broken on the ashtray door, no one in my party used it. Martin could not show us any damage to the ashtray or door and didn’t know why it wouldn’t shut but blamed us for it. I don’t know why it wouldn’t shut but it was in the exact same condition as it was when we got the vehicle. This is a seven year old car so I felt like he was trying to blame wear and tear items on us. He also sent me a text message after the rental saying that he “shouldn’t have expected anything less from people like You”. I find that an interesting word choice since he knew nothing about us except for the fact that we were out of towners in need of a rental car. We all happened to be different racial background than him, could that have been what he meant when he said “people like You”? This was my first experience with Toro and will probably not use it again after this experience.
When I say people like you. Im talking about grown adults that act like children .. no accountability. Was I supposed to not point out the damage to my personal vehicle that I worked hard for..I'm sure that is what works best for you. Here let me say sorry to you for noticing damage to my vehicle..J/k That's not how this world works. I was taught a Man is responsible and accountable for his actions. in fact one of the riders admitted to need the door open to charge her phone. LIES
