Great Turo experience. No complaints at all. Easy communication, easy pick up from the airport, car worked great, etc.

Had a great time renting the car and was perfect for our trip ! John was very helpful and no problems at all ! Well recommended!

Bit of a backstory -- my husband and I took both sets of grandparents and our 22-month old to visit Calgary, Banff, and Jasper. This is a total of 7 people (important to the rest of the review!): 2 adults, 4 seniors and a toddler. Decent, no frills car -- nothing special. Seniors had a difficult time opening sliding door, they were not powered -- nor was the trunk. Communication with John was okay for the most part. Only giving 2 stars due to inconvenience and a lack of professional courtesy. We went over km limit of our trip and was charged extra, which was fine -- but it was more than the actual overage -- and there are definitely caveats to consider when renting this van from John if you have seniors, babies, or a total of 7 people! A) John may have a proxy named Marco (or someone else) to pick you up at airport who will drive you to CargoJet a few kms away from the actual airport. If you have 7 total passengers on your trip, this is definitely inconvenient since you cannot fit all the people in the car. The 4 seniors and infant had to wait around at the airport for 30+ minutes while the process dragged on. B) They will ask for a ride back to CargoJet then ask you to do all turo-related check-in there. Too bad they already did THEIR pics/paperwork before they picked you up curbside, so the starting mileage is not accurate. Keep this in mind, since he will nickel and dime you for every km. Make sure all pics / paperwork are accurate -- they make you sign a folder that has the 'old' mileage on it already!! Being that there were 4 seniors and an infant waiting at the airport, we were in a rush and signed the paperwork quickly. C) Spoke with John a few months ago about having a car seat. Reminded him 2 weeks before travel about the request, to make sure that it was fulfilled. He replied with: "Hi Katherine no I didn't get a seat but I can start looking. I haven't had a demand. How old is he?" Excusing the butchering of my name -- I had already mentioned his age upon request, all he had to do was scroll up. The next couple of days, he replied back that he did get one, which was great! We didn't have to check-in our carseat for free at the airport since we were already lugging around the luggage for 7 ppl ! Unfortunately, it did not fit AT ALL and it obviously second-hand -- super dingy carseat. Our little one's neck had absolutely no support, no recline options, and he was sleeping upright/falling over forward. Terrible for the long trip from Calgary to Jasper! We had to take time and kms out of our already-short trip to buy a carseat then returned the one John had gotten the next day. Again, this was 30+ kms roundtrip which we were charged for. All in all, the van got us where it needed to, after all the headache and extra charges!
