If you want your Maui experience to be over the top - rent from Ben. The car was pristine clean and just having a Tesla for your Hawaii trip is incredible, never having to deal with gas fumes and driving this smooth ride on perfect Hawaiian roads. The car waited for us in the airport parking, super easy access and drop off was just as easy. Actually a lot easier than dealing with rental car agencies. Model Y is so spacious we had three adults and two kids and it had plenty of space for people, luggage and a double stroller! I was most impressed with Ben’s communication and the car cleanliness. It looked and felt like it just came off Tesla factory. A++++++ can’t wait to come back and rent this beautiful car again!

We were Tesla Virgins, so the learning curve was pretty steep in our experience. We were not able to charge it for the first couple days due to the nearest charging stations being off line or the incredibly slow charging speed at the Ritz (which is one of the only spots with a designated Tesla charger). We didn’t realize we’d need an app for the different chargers on the island and cell service wasn’t always solid enough to download an app on the spot. Our kid was pretty bummed at the amount of time she spent in the backseat waiting for us to figure everything out. We ended up plugging it in at our condo each night which was also super slow but gave us enough juice to travel about for the remainder of our time on Maui. All that said, Ben was incredibly helpful, patient and responsive to our woes. He was available over the phone and in person; the 5 star rating is for his service and attention to our needs, not necessarily our personal experience with the car. We did lose a couple days in total due to the technical issues and our confidence was a bit shaken as a result. Might not suggest one’s first experience with a Tesla be on Maui where the EV infrastructure is a work in progress.

Thanks Caitlyn, I really appreciate it. I do think most rentals don’t have those issues, and I’m glad doing my best to help made some difference. But for future renters, it’s definitely good to be aware that charging isn’t easy here, but the cars themselves are normally a joy to use here on Maui. I’m really glad you ended up having a good time on Maui and hope you maid it back soon!
