Description

It's the perfect tool for weekend warriors; a capable all-weather commuter; a family wagon par excellence; and a vehicle so well-endowed with crash-test goodness, it was called out specifically by the folks who crash-test cars for a living. The Forester retains all of its rugged trail prowess, including 8.7 inches of ground clearance and some approach and departure angles that even off-road purists wouldn’t be quick to dismiss. But perhaps inspired by systems such as Land Rover’s Terrain Response, Subaru has added something called X-Mode. When engaged at low speeds, it electronically manages torque from left to right, supplementing the AWD system’s front-to-back distribution, and it automatically deploys Hill Descent Control at low speeds. From the driver's seat, the new Forester is no revelation, but it still feels a little more athletic than most models in this class, while making major gains in gas mileage. And if you go for the 2.0XT model, you get a turbocharged engine and some other enthusiast-oriented upgrades that altogether offer more on-road driving fun without sacrificing this model's rugged, all-weather capabilities. The Forester retains all of its rugged trail prowess, including 8.7 inches of ground clearance and some approach and departure angles that even off-road purists wouldn’t be quick to dismiss. But perhaps inspired by systems such as Land Rover’s Terrain Response, Subaru has added something called X Mode. When engaged at low speeds, it electronically manages torque from left to right, supplementing the AWD system’s front-to-back distribution, and it automatically deploys Hill Descent Control at low speeds. This Forester feels completely different from the outgoing model from the driver’s seat; much of that’s because the entire instrument panel has been pushed forward nearly five inches from the seating position, while the seats themselves have been raised slightly, for a ‘hip point’ that’s more than an inch higher than before, and they’re also slightly farther apart. The floor and side sills were also lowered slightly, while the front seats get a wider range of adjustability; meanwhile, repositioning of the rear seats together with that allows an inch greater distance between the front and rear seats—that’s more rear legroom—and rear seatback folding that’s close to fully flat with a one-touch mechanism. There’s 12 percent more cargo space, too. The seats themselves will be fine for most drivers and passengers, but those on the tall and slim side are going to find the front seats both too short and flat in their lower cushions, as well as lacking in side bolstering. In XT (turbo) models it's especially lacking, as there's no sport-seat option. The repositioned back seats, however, feel not only easier to get into than in the previous version, but more comfortable, with a subtle contouring that should help comfort on longer trips; and all but the base model get three-position recline for the (60/40-split) rear seatbacks. With all the capabilities and comforts in this vehicle you will not be disappointed!

Faqs

  • Its a 4X4 vehicle does that mean I can take it off road?

As we know this may be tempting, considering the vehicle is capable of handling some of the toughest terrains, taking it off pavement is against the terms of service and will result in fines no less than $250.00

  • I have Rental Car coverage through my own insurance, or Credit Card - Why would I choose one of your options?

Yes coverage through your insurance, or credit card will likely cover most Traditional Car Rentals (Enterprise, Hertz, or Avis) but as Turo is not considered a traditional Rental option it is best to check before declining coverage. We have a number of options to suit your best needs when booking with Rocky Mountain Rentals.

  • I love the vehicle - can I brag about my experience to my friends on social media?

Please do!!! And we would love if you tagged us on your Adventure. We are on Instagram, & Facebook @RockyMountainRentals

  • Can I bring my pet along?

While we are animal enthusiasts we do not permit pets in our vehicle due to the likely opportunity for damage, and due to the fact that future renters may have allergies to animal hair.

Billy was amazing. So accommodating. Easy to get ahold of. Pick up and drop off was so smooth and very straight forward. Will definitely use Rocky Mountain Rentals when I come back to Denver!

Rocky Mountain Rentals's response

Thank you Joseph! Looking forward to serving you next time you are in town!

Car ran fine and did the job … with all the rules about it being clean I thought it would have been cleaner. Not filthy by any means but a little dusty inside and I felt the need to wipe it down. Otherwise it was a pretty good experience. I’d use it again.

Rocky Mountain Rentals's response

Leanette, thank you for the feedback, and apologies that we missed some spots cleaning prior to the trip 🤦🏻‍♂️ Happy to hear that everything else went well and look forward to hosting you next time you are in Denver!

Car was alright but had 150,000 miles. More than I was expecting. Brake rotors were warped and would shake when applying brake. Some of the suspension was a bit clunky over bumps. Interior was in fine condition. No major problems but I'd highly advise brake rotors be replaced at very least.

Rocky Mountain Rentals's response

Christopher, thanks for the feedback. We will most definitely look into things too so if your diagnosis is correct regarding the breaking and suspension. All vehicles are inspected for safety. Though the ride may not be as smooth as some of our newer vehicles we are glad that the car met your needs.

Nice car// Not great experience. Be advised** this is a rental company operating through turo** I Feel like the whole point of turo is to avoid the hassle you normally deal with when renting a car through a company..and have one on one direct interaction with an individual which you don’t truly receive. Semi difficult to find the car as well as several very long and extensive instructions which if you have a late flight and are alone make something easy to miss or frustrating that again if I was renting from an individual would have easily been avoided. I’m sure i’ll receive several extra charges that wouldn’t have been incurred by any of my precious turo rentals. Car worked well but process was not user friendly and I do not recommend if you are looking for a one on one turo experience.

Rocky Mountain Rentals's response

Thanks for the positive review! We are happy to report that we are a small business and have taken steps that set us above and beyond other hosts! There are just a few of us so surprised to hear you felt that the experience was impersonal. Apologies that the messages are long but we find that many of our guests appreciate the detailed information.
