Under the hood of the CR-V LX, Sport, and EX-L trims is an updated 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 190 horsepower, mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Available for the first time in Canada, the CR-V Hybrid Touring features an all-new gas-electric system with a newly refined 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine mated to a pair of electric motors that are now mounted side-by-side. The combined system output is 204 hp, while the peak torque is 247 pound-feet of torque, making the 2023 CR-V Hybrid Touring the most powerful CR-V ever. Honda says an updated all-wheel drive system with Intelligent Control improves the CR-V’s traction in slippery conditions, like snow and mud. Available on LX, and standard on Sport, EX-L, and Touring trims, the system can send up to 50% of engine torque to the rear wheels. For the first time, CR-V features Hill Descent Control. S - standard across the lineup. The system increases off-road capability with more control on steep, slippery declines. Drivers can select speeds between 3 and 20 kilometres per hour. Inside, Honda's new signature look is present. But it works well in these proportions. The central touchscreen rises above the dashboard, looking almost like it should retract (it doesn't). LX and Sport trims get a 7-inch infotainment screen. EX-L and Sport Touring versions get 9-in screens, which look better in proportion. They also have wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and wireless device charging. A honeycomb pattern splits the dashboard horizontally. For the CR-V, Honda has resisted the urge to make it chrome—it fits naturally with the soft-looking dash. The seats are all new. Honda says they "reduce fatigue and improve posture." Much of the added length has gone to cargo space. The 2023 CR-V has the most cargo room in the model's history, with 1,028 litres behind the rear seats. In the LX, EX-L and Sport, the rear load floor can be lowered, expanding the cargo space to 1,113 litres. The 60/40-split rear seatbacks folded flat expands cargo space to 2,166 litres.
