I am witing this review after 49.5 hours of having returned the car. Until now everything went generally OK. The shuttle to Carlton at Dublin International is a bit away from the terminal. First we could not find it. I phoned the given number and got help, and then I have found the place. We could only get on the second shuttle - the shuttle is a minibus, and there was a queue on the airport side. (We observed the same on our return trip - no problem on the hotel side, too many waiting for one bus at the airport.) This causes a delay of appr. 40 minutes. The car (Toyota Verso 7 seater) was clean. We have received the keys from the reception without difficulty. However, since there is no agent at the point where you pick up the car, you cannot handle any disagreement, if any, about the status of the car, previous minor damages to be recorded on the papers and the like. It was not filled up to full, which makes it difficult to give it back in the same condition. I took a picture of the gauge and sent it Gavin, who acknowledged the status. The car drove beautifully, without the slightest problem. We enjoyed it very much. At the end, we returned it with more fuel than we received it with. Again, at the return, there is no owner or representative, who could countersign your papers, acknowledge that there are no damages, scratches etc to the car, and the like. (In the worst case, somebidy might damage the car in the car park after you've left it, and before the owner picks it up again, and you have no way to defend your case.) At this point, (49.5 hrs after return) I have no record yet of the fate of our 150 GBP deposit. These uncertainties are the reason why I did not rate the experience 5 starts - also, I personally find it unusual, and actually forbidden by banks in my country, to send bank card details to others via media such as this correspondence. Till date, however, this is the only pending issue. If I get back my full deposit (not expecting the surplus fuel), I will be fully satisfied. Thanks, Gavin, for a very good car!

Gavin was excellent to work with. Definitely 5*, and I would definitely rent from again. Excellent communication, very responsive (even more impressive with the 9-hour time difference between Alaska and Ireland), and very patient, as I had MANY questions about options and how rentals worked both in: a) Ireland in general, and b) some Turo options. I’m a detail person, read contracts closely, and everything was as Gavin represented in our messaging. The 2018 Toyota Versa was in great shape, clean, and had ~11,000 miles on it. This was my first ever Turo rental, as well as my first trip to Ireland (am from USA). After researching and reading many, many reviews of traditional rental car options in Ireland (generally not good), I decided to give Turo a try, and Gavin was the Turo host selected. When I needed some custom options (such as unlimited mileage) and the supplemental insurance, Gavin was quick to reply with the availability and pricing of those options. Again, Gavin was super understanding of my 20+ questions, spread out over several weeks. For context, in 30 years of renting cars (primarily in the USA), I’ve never once purchased the “rental insurance” option, and never had a claim. I purchased the insurance option for this Turo rental, and while I ultimately didn’t need it, I’d purchase it again if renting in Ireland. If renting in Ireland, the main highways and motorways are fine. If venturing out on country roads, they’re extraordinarily narrow vs. rural roads in USA, and parking spots are tiny. Also, if you’re relying on Credit Card for your additional insurance, call your CC company to confirm that they cover Ireland. Vast majority don’t. Only one that I found that did was Chase. Then confirm if they cover Turo.
