The host was accommodating in terms of date and time change requests prior to vehicle pick up and flexible in agreeing a slightly different location of vehicle return. If not for the miscommunication of return location and the chain of events which followed, I would have rated this rental with 5 stars. Unfortunately, the streets where the vehicle could be returned was not communicated in detail by the host and even though I had returned the car on early Saturday morning near the tube station (as previously agreed with the host as his permit covered it), I went the extra mile to ensure it is parked in a spot which did not have any restrictions over the weekend. The host rang later that morning to advise that the parking spot was not acceptable after I had returned and locked the vehicle. I was prepared to go and move the car to a location out of my own time as he was not in London but as the car rental period was over, he was unable to unlock the car without creating a new reservation. The host then decided to come to pick up the car himself on Sunday. The host had advised there was £33 professional valet prior to my trip (which was expected as disinfection was required due to Covid) and that post rental, he will require another clean based on the photos I have uploaded. I had rented the car for an entire week and indeed the car did have a layer of light dust (not mud) and some sand on the rubber mats (which could easily be removed with a splash of water) which was not considered unreasonable or required moderate or severe cleaning. I have also returned the car with 1/2 tank of petrol compared to the 1/8 of a tank upon pick up. The host did initially agree to waive the cleaning cost given the fact the car was returned with more petrol than required. But after he came to move the car on Sunday, he decided it was a rather frustrating process for him as a host and charged me half of the professional valet cleaning and disinfection which would have been mandatory before his next rental anyway. I am a little shocked that after paying for a whole week's rental, returning the car with more petrol than required, the host went ahead and put in a claim through Turo for me to reimburse him with half the car wash and disinfection which would have been the host’s responsibility prior to any trip anyway. My only advice to fellow renters, if the car does have any dust on it upon return, give it a quick wipe before returning it as you may be asked to reimburse the host for car cleaning afterwards.
