Description

“The 3 Series [F30 LCI] astutely balances hard-core dynamics and commuter-friendly comfort. ... . It has grown bigger and more comfortable.” (Car and Driver) When the sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series (F30) hit the market, it was often criticized by BMW aficionados for being “too soft” and more mainstream than the previous 3 Series were. BMW took notice and did a major overhaul for 2016, resulting in this F30 LCI model (a “Life Cycle Impulse” in BMW’s language). There have been noteworthy tweaks to the F30 chassis, including stiffer front struts, retuned rear dampers, and revised programming for the electric power steering. The car has kept the highly refined 240 horsepower engine that sends power to the rear wheels through the excellent ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. The result is a “business sedan meets sports car” performance: the car needs just 5.2 seconds to hit 60 mph (but still delivers up to 35 mpg on the highway). “The 328i’s on-road behavior is familiarly composed, and the new chassis tuning allows for flatter and more stable cornering without impacting the F30’s ride quality” (Car and Driver). To make things even spicier, this 3 Series comes with a rare M Sport Package with lowered M Sport suspension, M Sport brakes, and the unique M Sport steering wheel with paddle shifters (not to mention ultra-high performance Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 all-seasonal tires). If you still miss the joy found in the nimbler 328i of the previous generation, please feel free to check my 2006 330i E90.

Faqs

  • What is Comfort Access Keyless Entry?

This BMW has a comfort access system that allows you to open the car door and start the engine without having to touch the key. All you have to do is have the key somewhere on you (or near you.) Once you approach the car just touch the inside of the door handle, and then head on in.

  • What should I do if I get a flat tire warning?

Unlike many BMWs these days, this car is clad in non run-flat (non-RFT) tires - for better driving comfort on less-than-ideal roads of Washington, DC. This means you can't keep driving if a tire loses pressure (you will get a red warning light on the dashboard). If this happens during your trip, please safely park the car and contact Turo Support (and also let me know) and we will take care about the rest. Thanks!
