Description

"This car feels like it was drop shipped from the future," said one automotive reviewer about the Tesla Model S. This is your chance to experience the performance, acceleration, styling, and high-tech of the Tesla Model S, one of the first mainstream electric vehicles. A key player in the electric vehicle revolution. See why so many people have sworn off of gasoline pumps and oil changes and embrace the thrill and enjoyment of driving an electric vehicle. This Tesla Model S features a massive central display that elegantly presents the GPS display, entertainment selections, and vehicle controls in one central location. Say goodbye to dozens of buttons and knobs all over the cockpit and say hello to futuristic convenience. The Model S seats five adults and has tons of space behind the rear seats, easily accessible from a powered lift gate. Elegant interior lighting makes for just the right ambience at night as you enjoy smooth, quiet, comfort. This Tesla is equipped with a dash cam that continuously records your journey (no sound is recorded), for additional peace of mind. One more thing: This Model S is a P85, not a P85D. For some reason, the Turo site did not list a P85 for the 2015 model year, so I selected the closest match.

Faqs

  • How do I lock and unlock the car?

The car unlocks automatically when you approach the car and locks automatically when you walk away (if you have the key fob with you). Do not leave the key fob in the car because doing so will prevent the car from locking and will allow anyone to drive away in the car.

  • Where can I charge the car during my booking?

The car's display will show you where to find Tesla "Superchargers," conveniently located around the metroplex and on major highways. In addition, the car's display will show many retail establishments, some of whom include free charging or inexpensive charging. In addition to the Tesla display, there are a number of smartphone apps, like "PlugShare" that are a useful resource in finding charging locations. If you happen to have a NEMA 14-50 outlet available (these are 50-amp outlets that are used for a variety of purposes, including many electric ovens), you can charge using that. A basic "wall plug" can also be used, though charging with a typical wall plug will only provide three or four miles of range per charging hour.

  • How does automatic lane control work?

Automatic lane control is a driver assist feature that should never be used to replace attentive, hands-on-the-wheel driving. To be used only on a divided highway, automatic lane control will help keep the car within the lane on most well-marked roads. Because lane control is a driver assist feature and is not perfect, please keep your hands on the wheel at all times and be prepared to take control at any moment. The driver is responsible for all vehicle actions, even if lane control is engaged, so if you are uncertain about its operation or unwilling to stay 100% in control of the vehicle, please do not engage lane control. ("Autopilot" is the marketing term used for this feature; however, it is certainly not fully autonomous driving and should not be thought of in this way.) To engage lane control, simply pull the lever on the lower-left of the steering column towards you twice. To disengage, either push the lever forward or apply slight torque on the wheel. (Note: Applying torque will disengage auto steering and keep adaptive cruise control engaged.)

  • How does adaptive cruise control work?

Adaptive cruise control (please use only on the highway) will adjust the car's speed based upon either the set point or the speed of the car in front of you (whichever is lower). This is way more convenient than "normal" cruise control, which requires that you keep manually adjusting the set point if the car in front of you slows down. To engage adaptive cruise control, simply pull the lever on the lower-left of the steering column towards you once. To disengage, push the same lever forward or tap the brake.

  • What is the range of this vehicle?

This vehicle has a range of approximately 210 miles when charged to 95%. (Model S's produced today come with a range of 390 - 520+ miles, but our Model S was made back in 2015 when the ranges were not as great as they are today.)

First time being the pilot in a Tesla. We really enjoyed the ride. Rocky is a great host. Very responsive and gave us white glove door to door service. The only issue we had is that we were unaware that we would have to charge it as much as we did. Being that it’s an older version, (2015), the charge lasts much less than newer versions. But overall very happy and would rent a car from Rocky again.
