Overall, the experience was decent. However, As someone who owns and has driven many different manual transmission vehicles I left 3-stars for the following reasons:
1) Initially, the communication with the host was lacking. I had to reach out to Turo to get a response back from the host.
2) The vehicle itself has extreme rev-hang above 2.5k RPM making shifting smoothly a challenge. Shifting below that RPM makes the vehicle extremely slow to the point that it almost holds up traffic.
3) The gearbox has what appears to be worn out synchros. It sometimes doesn’t shift into 5th gears or into 2nd gear when downshifting.
4) The clutch needs to be replaced. It’s very stiff and finicky to take off smoothly in 1st gear.
5) The tires are extremely loud especially on the freeway.
This is just a honest review of my experience. That said, the vehicle is very good on gas, it has good storage, and the seats are comfortable. The host was more responsive afterwards. We never met in person, however he seems like gracious gentleman.
