Faqs

  • How do I put gas in the vehicle?

Open the gas tank icon by pressing the charger opener button on the left side panel at the floor. The gas intake is on the passenger side front panel of the vehicle. Once pressed the gas tank should appear slightly open. If it does not slightly open then after the gas icon button is pressed open the panel. A release for the gas if it is unable to open is located inside the fronk nearest the gas intake. Vehicle takes 89 Octane or more. The vehicle gas tank is only 2 gallons. The gas powers the electric generator which provides one full charge or ~120 miles depending on your speed, temperature conditions and elevations of your trip.

  • How can I request the hitch bike rack, ski rack, car carrier. child seat, and or snow chains?

Request when booking if you would like to add the hitch bike rack, ski rack, car carrier, child seat and or snow chains.

  • How do I charge the vehicle?

Press in the passenger side rear panel. Level 1, Level 2 adapter and extension cord are in the frunk. An extension cord is not recommended, however, a higher grade extension cord is provided to you for emergencies. Extension cord is higher grade and do not use a lower grade electrical wire or it will cause too much heat, melt the cord and be risk of fire. Level 1 Adapter - plug in the adapter to the bottom outlet on the car. Plug the cord into a 120v outlet. Anticipate the level 1 will take ~12-hours to fully charge the vehicle. Level 2 adapter - plug in the adapter to the level 2 charger unit you are charging (i.e. chargepoint, blink or others). Activating the account may be required first to release the charging plug from the unit. Provided are Chargepoint, Blink or you can use your credit card to charge. Plug in the adapter to the bottom outlet on the car. Check the charging unit to confirm charging has begun. Anticipate the level 2 will take ~2.5-hours to fully charge the vehicle. Level 3 DC Fast charge - Remove both charging outlet covers on the vehicle; the outlets are in the rear of the vehicle. Activating the account may be required first to release the charging plug from the unit. Provided are Chargepoint, Blink or you can use your credit card to charge. Plug in the adapter to the outlets on the car; typically the unit cord plug covers both outlets. Check the charging unit to confirm charging has begun. Anticipate the level 3 DC Fast charger will take ~20-mins to charge the battery 80%; after 80% the charge slows, charges increase so best to charge up to 80% or when you see the charging voltage decrease. Following charging cards are in glove compartment and you will be billed to reservation: Chargepoint, EVgo, blink, Electrify America, Shell Recharge. ChargePoint https://apps.apple.com/us/app/chargepoint/id356866743 EVgo https://apps.apple.com/us/app/evgo-ev-chargers/id1281660968 Blink https://apps.apple.com/us/app/blink-charging-mobile-app/id1612678852

  • Do you have a back-up gas tank just in case I cannot find a place to charge or gas station?

A 2.5 gallon emergency back-up gas tank is located in the trunk This is recommended to only be used for emergency purposes and as a back-up. As we know gas stations are widely available, electrical charging is not widely available and we provide the back-up gas tank for emergencies. Only refill the back-up gas tank with the tank outside of the vehicle. Follow gas station procedures. Check, double, triple check the gas tank is fully closed and no vents or leaks are present. Make sure if gas was spilled on the tank you wash off and dry to assure no gas remains; fumes are as volitile as liquid gas so be careful.

  • Do you have a toll or EZpass account to bill to my reservation?

EZPass toll is attached to front of vehicle license plate and will be billed to your reservation.

  • How do i turn on and start to drive the vehicle?

BMW i3 is all electric and the turn on off start are all electronic functions. Turn on the vehicle: To right of steering wheel a button labled start off is how the vehicle is turned on. To start, press your foot on brake then press the start on button. You'll see the lights on the screens change and the vehicle comes to life. To drive: Of course first, check your seat belt, guests, doors/hood/trunk closed, surroundings safe to start and drive. Next, with your foot on the brake and the vehicle turned on, turn the handle to the right of the steering wheel to drive or roll forward. You'll see the screen turn to drive. The emergency brake button is on the center console and should be off or will turn off when car moves forward. Always recommended to use the emergency brake when parking to prevent the car from rollowing. To stop: Turn the handle to park, then press the on/off button. Car is off. Recommend pressing the emergency brake button as well.
