When I received this car from the owner Papa we were really excited about it because we were celebrating my husband's 30th birthday and I planned to drive us to Lake Conroe from Houston. Papa mentioned that the back wheel sensor was on but assured us that we would have nothing to worry about.... After driving the car briefly (going to have lunch and stopping for pictures) we headed to Lake Conroe. While on IH-45, I suddenly felt the car shaking and we had to pull over to the side of the road because a back tire had EXPLODED. The entire tire had burst and we were lucky to be able to get to the side of the road for assistance. Police came and called a tower for us to get off the road and I called Papa immediately. On the phone he acknowledged that he was worried about the tire and said he wanted us to still enjoy our day, saying "get the tire replaced and I will reimburse you for it, please don't let this ruin the day for you but don't let them take advantage of you." He recommended we go to a discount tire asap so we wouldn't be overcharged. That is what we did. We went to the closest discount tire and they pointed out to us that BOTH back tires were in TERRIBLE condition, having absolutely no tread on them and getting into this car was a very dangerous thing to do given the lack of maintenance. The technician suggested that not only the burst tire needed replacement but both back tires because of the wear they had. This isn't my car but I wanted to continue with our day so I replaced the burst tire with money out of my own pocket. When I told Papa this, he said the last person who rented this car had it 3 weeks and had probably been doing donuts... How irresponsible of Papa to rent a car out knowing it has bad damage to the tires!! If you ask me, if someone rents a car and returns it in awful condition you should repair it before you rent it out again to the next unsuspecting person. The time it took to replace the tire made us miss the appointment we had set up for a fun activity in Lake Conroe and the more I waited the more uneasy I felt about driving the car on the other severely damaged tire. I let Papa know that we would return the car immediately since we lost the whole day getting it fixed for him and our one day rental was basically ruined so I wanted to reschedule the rental for another time if possible. He was very apologetic and promised to make it up to us even saying he would rent us an "even better car at no charge" any time we wanted! He said he had a Bentley that we could take instead so I felt better about what had happened and was hopeful that Papa would keep his word. I dropped the car off at his home and he wouldn't even meet with me, requesting that I just leave it there. This was a horrible experience for my husband and I but UNFORTUNATELY IT GETS WORSE... Trusting Papa was a HORRIBLE MISTAKE!!!! On the next day, he complained that the tire people should have also fixed the sensor. Woah... That is not my job!? I didn't rent the car to go fix it for someone else. I did exactly as he asked and tried to carry on with my day. That's it. I had sent him the receipt for the tire and venmo info the day of the incident and he took forever to reimburse me for the tire. I had to call/text him multiple times to try to get paid back. He finally paid me back and we agreed that I'd have a new rental the next week. I understood from what he had promised me before that we would decide which car I would rent instead later in the week depending on the weather. After that terrible experience I wouldn't be caught dead in that car again. When I contacted him to confirm the new rental appointment he BACKTRACKED COMPLETELY. He said that I could rent the Porsche again but this time the tires were fixed. I asked him why not the Bentley? And I sent him a screenshot of what he promised me, reminding him that he offered a different car to me at no charge... if this wouldn't be possible I told him I just wanted a refund instead. Here he replied that he would have to charge me something if I wanted a different car or offered to agree to a refund. I sent Papa the amount I paid for the failed rental experience so I could walk away from this happy and he is trying to offer FAR LESS and acting like REIMBURSEMENT for replacement of his tire was a GIFT when it was his responsibility to care for his car in the first place, not mine!! HE BLAMED ME for the damage and minimized the situation completely by saying I only caught a flat?! He said he has lost too much on this and claimed that I already got to enjoy the car when in reality I drove it for about 40 miles tops and spent so much time waiting for its repair that the whole day was lost!! Papa had the AUDACITY to say I was driving this car recklessly when in reality I am over 6 months pregnant and wouldn't do anything wild in a car that isn't mine. THIS EXPERIENCE WAS TERRIBLE!!! Check out the car THOROUGHLY if you EVER consider renting with Papa because he doesn't look after his vehicles properly, will let you drive off in a damaged car, and then blame you for the damage after promising to make it up to you. He acts nice one minute but will try to take advantage of you when his negligence gets in the way. Another thing… not that I care what anyone does on their own time but when we picked up the car this man already had a bud light in his hand at 10am... later he was sloppy drunk on the phone when we contacted him about our emergency and that is probably why he didn't remember any of what he promised me he would do to make it up and refused to meet me when I brought back the repaired car early… This is an irresponsible car owner who will take advantage of you if you run into trouble because of his carelessness. Shame on you Papa Zach.

The car is a head turner; however, had some noticeable mechanical issues and signs of negligence to begin with low tire pressure and back tire tread being next to non-existent. Drove the car very lightly. Arranged to return the vehicle at the time of pickup as agreed. Host reported the vehicle missing after having sat in his driveway for 30 mins during return time while I waiting for an Uber.
