Located 12 minutes from RDU Airport - very inexpensive uber/lyft ride. No pets and definitely no smoking. Take a ride in the future. The Tesla is fun to drive with technology to impress anyone. This car is practically new. I will give you a lot of guidance on how to use the Tesla. Why rent a gas guzzling car when you can drive a Tesla.

Great person to rent from

We have rented with Turo for years, and have always had great luck. This trip was a disaster.
The host failed to send us the invite to operate the Tesla as we were told he would, so we sat in the hot sun in the parking lot at the airport for almost 45 minutes trying to reach him (and on the phone with Turo support who also couldn't reach him). The host finally unlocked and started the car for us, and said we were all set to drive it and we'd receive the invite right away.
We proceeded to our destination, checking in and asking for the invite along the way. We received no response. We arrived at our destination an hour and a half later, and still did not have the Tesla invite, nor had we received any communication from the host via the Turo app or phone/text. At this point we were essentially stuck in the car. I was travelling with two children, and couldn't leave the car as we had our luggage and couldn't lock it, so we couldn't get out to get food or use the restroom. We couldn't shut the car off, or do anything else.
We then proceeded to spend an hour sitting in the car while on the phone with Turo support and trying to reach the host. At this time Turo support said my only option was to return the car to the pickup location and cancel the rental for a refund. Obviously this was not an option as we would have had to drive another hour and a half back to the airport. There were no other rentals available in the area on the app, and renting through another car company would have been $200 more than our original rental cost.
We FINALLY received the invite from the host more than 3 hours after the start of our rental and were able to drive the car. The host's offer of $20 in charging fees was a slap in the face insult.
Unfortunately Turo has also failed to offer any other refund, etc. They continue to state that my only option would have been to return the car and cancel the reservation. Again, not an option.
On top of these issues:
The car was delivered with a 68% charge, not a full charge as promised.
There is a mechanical issue with this car, which makes the autopilot not work. I could care less about autopilot, but it makes the cruise control not work. That sucked.
The host has weird floor mats in the car to protect the carpet. They were annoying, but also dangerous as they shifted all over while driving and I kept catching my foot. I removed the driver's mat and put it in the truck so I wouldn't get in an accident.
I rent from Turo because I love the options for fun cars, the great experiences with hosts, and the overall ease of rental. I have rented in several states and countries, and have always had a great experience. It seems like instead of working with someone who is renting a couple of cars, this host is trying to operate a full rental car fleet through the Turo app, but not doing it well. Not being able to communicate with the host through any option was completely unacceptable, and unlike any other Turo experience I have ever had.
I would not recommend renting from this host at all, and the experience will make me think twice before using Turo again.
