Description

This silver 2016 Nissan Leaf is the perfect city commuter car. If you are new to EVs you need to familiarize yourself with the limitations. The Leaf has the improved 30 kWh battery and can run up to 110 miles on a single charge given the right conditions. Please plan your trips accordingly as well as your recharging points. The car comes equipped with 110V portable charger (in the bag in the trunk), and it also has a fast charging option (CHAdeMO). You can put about 7 miles/ h on 110V charging, 30 miles/h on 210V and a full charge in 35 min on CHAdeMO (very limited availability in the greater Atlanta area). The Leaf comes with Weathertech all-weather car maths (front and rear), seat covers and Michelin tires. Child seats/ boosters are optional. The front seats have black cloth seat covers and both front and rear seats can be trimmed with pink seat covers (upon request, pls see photos, girls love it :) No smoking at any time, otherwise you will be charged $200 for smoke removal; no pets please, a similar $200 charge will apply for cleanup. It is a nimble economic compact car best for driving in the city, and has 3 seats in the rear, though it will accommodate comfortably 2 adults or 3 kids. It is a hatchback with folding rear seats, can accommodate 3 large suitcases and smaller bags. The Leaf has a PeachPass transponder for free and legal access to the HOV lanes in ATL, but NOT on the express lanes 75 south of McDonough or the I-75 North in Marietta. If the transponder is charged for use of these 2 lanes you will be charged for reimbursement. I will deliver the car for free to Atlanta downtown area, ATL airport, and Gwinnett county. I realize that recharging the car at ATL airport is not convenient so I have lowered the recharge fee to just $5 and you don't need to worry much about it but please add this extra (for $5) when you book the car otherwise you will be charged more if you return the car discharged ($10 to $20). Please DON'T DISCHARGE THE BATTERY to 0% or you will be charged towing fee (per actual cost). Please keep the battery at all time above 15% capacity.

Faqs

  • How can I charge this car? Will gas stations help me out?

Gas stations are useless. The easiest way is to plug the car in any regular electric outlet (charger provided in the trunk of the car), but the charge is slow and best used overnight. Level 2 chargers and fast chargers are becoming more available (some are free) and the most popular network you have to register in is ChargePoint. Telsa superchargers are not compatible with this car. Many hotels and establishments offer complimentary charging stations for free to their customers. Drop me an email if you need more info. The Leaf navigation can get you to a charging station BUT the charger may be in use or access restricted. I update the map with the charging stations regularly but your best bet is to use ChargePoint app /website. Another excellent source of information is Plugshare.com where you can locate chargers that are not listed in ChargePoint. I have made it a habit to leave one of my Chargepoint cards in the car for use by the customers. I prefer that you use it rather than get stranded on the road for lack of power. Please feel free to use it. I will get a report on how much the charing session costs me and I will ask you for a reimbursement (at cost). The reason I offer this convenience is that 1) ChargePoint is the largest network in the Atlanta area and 2) you need to register in advance with ChargePoint and get your card by mail which takes time... (note: some networks can unlock the charger when you call them and give them your credit card number but ChargePoint is not one of them). You can, however, unlock the ChargePoint charging station via your app, all you have to do is download it, register and start using it. If your phone fails you then please use my ChargePoint card. Google Maps will also get you to a charging station. But the best info (as far as I know) is available at www.plugshare.com. Many hotels and shopping locations offer free EV charging for patrons so please inquire in plugshare.com and take advantage of that.

  • When should I AVOID RENTING this EV?

This car is not for trips outside the greater ATLANTA area. It is possible to travel in the Leaf but it will take some time to charge it (again , 30 miles per 1 hour on a 220V station, etc...) and you will need to have the time for the stops. Charging stations in rural GA are VERY limited and are also UNREALIBLE (including those located at dealerships -surprise, surprise). So if you take a trip outside ATL it is on your own risk and I can assist you with finding the charging stations but I can't guarantee that they will be working. Also, don't rent the car if you are planning to run erands in the city and you don't have time to stop for a charging session. I don't consider the car charging time 100% lost time but you decide how you can make the most of that time. Ideally, the Leaf should be charged at night while you are sleeping, and any time you are not driving it. The factors which REDUCE the range of the Leaf are: low outside temperature (below 45 F), fast driving (above 60 miles/h), climbing uphill (elevation), hot weather (have to use A/C), heavy car (full occupancy and full trunk) and a combination of those factors. Under the circumstances, the range can be reduced MORE THAN 35%, sometimes up to 50%. The key to a stress-free EV experience is PLANNING, PLANNING, PLANNING. The only bad or missing reviews that I get are from renters who have never driven an EV before AND who don't realize the operating restrictions this car has. Thank you for reading so far and thank you for renting this EV.

Ivan was prompt delivering and picking up the car. As a single woman I felt comfortable/safe with him. He was very helpful with orienting me to the electric car which was all new to me. I would suggest you read his instructions he sends about the car- they are very helpful to someone that has not used an electric car previously.

Ivan is such a great host. He spent the time to explain the car to me. I found myself walking more because I as intentionally planning my travel around finding a charge port and then other activities I can do around it while it fast charged.

Very convenient and smooth transaction. Smooth driving car also. Charging it is very simple at a charging station and if you have a place to plug in and charge overnight even better.
