Parking details

I will try my best to drop off in person. If I have to work I will leave the key and instructions in a hidden location that will be messaged to you. In winter and spring, try not to park on the Main street due to snow removal and street sweeping. Driveway or the cul-de-sac is fine.

Guidelines

* Reasonably flexible with pickup and drop-off time/location if provided advance notice. This is usually one of the first questions I ask through messenger. I am always available to message. * NO Smoking please. $500 fine if I find you have smoked in the car. * Please return with roughly the same amount of diesel it was delivered with, I will give it to you with a full tank. * I also would appreciate if you could clean the car before drop-off, unless post-trip cleaning is selected in extras. Only exception is if weather is too cold (say below -10C) as I don’t like my doors and windows frozen shut. Touchless drive-through or a quick spray down at a self-serve should be sufficient. Please no brushes, rags, or squeegees (on paint, glass is fine) as they get clogged with grit and damage the paint. If the car is returned excessively dirty in warm/mild weather I will charge a cleaning fee. **I kindly request you don't tow anything with my vehicle. It may have a hitch receiver and a formidable towing capacity, but towing falls under Turo's list of prohibited usage, much like most other rental companies and YOU will be responsible for any damage incurred should you do so. ***If you plan on driving across the US border please let me know ahead of time

Faqs

  • What fuel should I put in it?
DIESEL. NOTHING ELSE. ANY GASOLINE IS VERY BAD FOR THE ENGINE, POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC. Diesel stations in Calgary are very easy to find, especially around major highways and thoroughfares. Google or Gasbuddy apps will show you the nearest one. If coming in from the mountains I recommend the Petro-Canada at 8420 Bowford Road SW, as it's on the way into town and has a self serve/touchless wash. If you press preset #3 on the radio, I have it programmed to set the GPS for this location.
  • How do I open the glove box?
There's a black button under the vent to the left of the glove box. To close, just push the lid closed. You'd be surprised how often this is asked.
  • Where is the spare tire?
This being a modern BMW there isn't one. Came like that from the factory, as are many vehicles these days (Hyundais, some Chevys etc). I have provided a temporary tire sealant kit in the compartment underneath the trunk for minor punctures that should get you to a tire shop or a safe place to pull over and call for a tow. If on the summer tires, they are run-flats and can go short distances with no air in them. The car has TPMS and will indicate a flat tire if there is one. If the puncture is more serious or you are very far away from a tire repair shop, Turo has a 24/7 roadside assistance line.
  • Are you flexible with extra mileage?
I do offer slightly more mileage than the average renter as it is, and I would prefer renters stay within that. If you need more km for your trip please let me know beforehand and we can work something out. If the mileage is exceeded without telling me first, there will be a $0.45 CAD per km charge.

David's car was great and drives really well! The car was clean and made for a great family vehicle for our trip to Banff. David was very friendly and quick to respond to any messages and made the pick up and drop off a breeze. Would surely rent David's X5 again next time we're in the Calgary area.

David was ultra responsive, very helpful and genuinely nice. He even had his super generous father take us to the airport when we had to change plans last minute. Great ride and better host. Hope to use him again soon.
