Every few Fridays, we like to bring you <\/em>moments of zen<\/em><\/a> in the form of some of our favorite motorcars from around the Turo marketplace. Let\u2019s keep the fun going. We like cars, you like cars, so let\u2019s look at some cars.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ve seen these around. Possibly with very loud music playing, and possibly you\u2019ve thought they looked funny, or even annoying. And possibly, but almost certainly, the people behind the wheel were having more fun than you. This 2024 Polaris Slingshot R<\/a> is sort of a car, sometimes called an \u201cautocycle,\u201d and definitely a pure toy. It\u2019s an angular, cranky, exoskeleton-looking sleigh with three wheels, no doors, and no trunk. It also has no roof, meaning it\u2019s the perfect plaything to romp around in on a summer weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polaris\u2019 own motor, a high-revving 203-hp 2.0L inline-four, powers the back wheel and is plenty potent enough to get the Slingshot\u2019s skimp 1,600 pounds moving with ease. For comparison, a 2024 MX-5 Miata has about the same horsepower and torque but weighs over 1,000 pounds more. Those who\u2019ve driven a Slingshot will know this thing can really go. The R has the model\u2019s top performance package and comes with Brembo brakes, so it can stop pretty good as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sitting low to the ground and exposed to the air might seem a bit intimidating at first, but with the light weight, incredible visibility, and paddle shift transmission, the Slingshot is freeing and intuitive to drive. This agile little go-kart does draw a bit of attention, but if you\u2019re not into that you can simply scoot away. If you\u2019re looking for a seriously good time, try a Slingshot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
