Game 7 is on! The Cubs dug themselves out of an unlikely deficit at Cleveland last night, sealing the deal with a historic grand slam (the first one in a World Series in over a decade), so tonight is the night of reckoning.

It’s going to be a battle for hometown hero pride — both teams haven’t won the Series in many fans’ lifetimes (the Indians’ last victory was in 1948, the Cubs’, 1908). Hemingway forecasted the Indians’ formidableness in his classic “The Old Man and the Sea” (1958), saying, “‘The Yankees cannot lose.’ ‘But I fear the Indians of Cleveland.’”, perhaps foreshadowing their victory, 58 years later. Or maybe not. Only time will tell.

So in all fairness to the almost-as-victory-starved-as-the-Cubs Cleveland Indians, here are the best things to come out of Cleveland in the last 68 years.

FIRST SUCCESSFUL SIAMESE TWIN SEPARATION (1952)

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the first separation of conjoined twins was performed at Mount Sinai in Cleveland. #themoreyouknow

TOM HANKS (1956)

Dubbed “America’s dad”, this cultural gem of a man began his acting career with the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival, winning the Cleveland Critics Circle award in ‘78.

HALLE BERRY (1966)

This ageless beauty spent her early days in Cleveland, before becoming the first African American female Oscar winner for “Monster’s Ball”.

THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME (1983/1995*)

THE tourist destination in the “Rock and Roll Capital of the World”, Cleveland was chosen as the home of the Hall of Fame to honor local DJ, Alan Freed, who coined the term “rock and roll” in 1953. Fun fact: the building was designed by I.M. Pei, the same architect who designed the glass pyramid at the Louvre.

CALVIN & HOBBES (1985–1995)

The classic American comic strip was set in a suburb of Cleveland, inspired by author Bill Watterson’s own upbringing in Chagrin Falls.

MAJOR LEAGUE (1989)

One of the Indians’ biggest splashes in pop culture, “Major League” is a cult classic of American cinema, as well as a breakout role for now-notorious bad boy Charlie Sheen.

THE DREW CAREY SHOW (1995–2004)

Before he filled Bob Barker’s shoes on “The Price Is Right”, Drew Carey’s eponymous sitcom put Cleveland on the map, especially with the obnoxiously catchy theme song, “Cleveland Rocks”.

LEBRON & THE CAVS (2003–2010; 2014–present)

Oh, Lebron. As a Warriors fan, I kinda just can’t, but no one can deny the magic that this Akron native has brought to the title-holding Cavaliers.

*The organization was founded in 1983, but the museum in Cleveland didn’t open until 1995—a year after the inaugural season of the Indians’ home field, Progressive Field.
