Self-driving cars are the buzzword du jour, Red Bull and Aston Martin have a need for speed, and <\/span>Top Gear<\/span><\/i>\u2019s loss is the US\u2019 gain.<\/span><\/p>\n

The rocky race for autonomous dominance<\/span><\/h3>\n

Though last week\u2019s <\/span>fatal Florida crash<\/span><\/a> involving a self-driving Tesla was tragic and rocked the once-resplendent monopoly Tesla held over the autonomous vehicle market, there is certainly a silver lining for other players in the game. The Tesla accident may have stolen <\/span>BMW and Intel\u2019s thunder<\/span><\/a>, but it also knocks Tesla\u2019s halo a bit askew (as did the company\u2019s <\/span>Sunday report<\/span><\/a> that it missed its delivery target for Q2 2016), leveling the playing field in the great motor race, <\/span>according the Wall Street Journal<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Red Bull + Aston Martin = crazy fast<\/span><\/h3>\n

Red Bull and Aston Martin<\/span><\/a> announced this week a collaboration to take the supercar racing world by storm. In a move that brings Aston Martin closer to Red Bull\u2019s go-fast, Formula One\u00a0technologies and Red Bull from the racetrack to the city streets, the AM-RB 001 is rumored to rival the Porsche 919 Hybrid and leave LaFerrari and McLaren P1 in the dust.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Grand Tour<\/span><\/i> heads stateside<\/span><\/h3>\n

After leaving the famed (<\/span>yet tumultuous<\/span><\/a>) BBC series <\/span>Top Gear, <\/span><\/i>Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May will star in the <\/span>upcoming Amazon Video series, <\/span>The Grand Tour<\/span><\/i>,<\/span><\/a> which will have studio locations in the UK, Germany, South Africa, and, to the delight of many American gearheads who felt slighted by Top Gear<\/em>‘s yankee neglect, the US.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alibaba and SAIC launch an internet car<\/span><\/h3>\n

China is stepping up its internet of things game. Two of its best-known brand names, e-commerce giant Alibaba and SAIC Motors, have joined forces to create \u201cthe world\u2019s first mass-produced car on the internet,\u201d <\/span>according to CNBC<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
