The Brexit and its impact on automotive<\/span><\/h3>\n

The stunning leave of the UK from the European Union last night will not only have a huge impact on the future of Europe and the world economy, but it also has <\/span>significant implications for the auto industry<\/span><\/a>. British car companies like Mini, Jaguar, and others are owned by foreign companies, so there will likely be hefty manufacturing tariffs imposed which could dent the bottom lines of these thriving and iconic brands. <\/span><\/p>\n

In other British news, the Guardian recently reviewed the <\/span>Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer<\/span><\/a> and reports that it\u2019s like \u201ca surprisingly fast donkey\u201d. So at least there\u2019s that.<\/span><\/p>\n

Toyota\u2019s bummer of a week<\/span><\/h3>\n

Toyota had a rough week. <\/span>Their heartbreaking loss<\/span><\/a> on the last lap of the 24 hours of Le Mans to Porsche last week was the buzz du jour all week and <\/span>has been hotly analyzed<\/span><\/a>. The conclusion remains the same: big, big bummer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tesla goes solar<\/span><\/h3>\n

Going beyond beautifully designed electric cars, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced this week that the company expanding beyond the auto industry with its <\/span>acquisition of solar power provider, SolarCity<\/span><\/a>. Musk was quoted as saying, \u201cThe world does not lack for automotive companies. The world lacks for sustainable energy companies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Drive like the fuzz<\/span><\/h3>\n

Turns out old police cruisers don\u2019t just go to that big motor pool in the sky, but actually <\/span>get recycled and sold to the general population<\/span><\/a>. Car enthusiast Jay Leno recently interviewed an appraisal expert on his show, <\/span>Jay Leno\u2019s Garage<\/span>, to see if the iconic black and white beaters are a sound investment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kia floats to the top, Detroit rises in the ranks<\/span><\/h3>\n

J.D. Powers released the results of their car quality survey<\/span> this week, with <\/span>Kia topping the list<\/span><\/a> as the first non-luxury brand to win the top slot in the nearly 30 years of the survey’s tenure. Of note, previously underperforming American contenders have started rising in the ranks, with Chevy, Buick\/Lincoln\/Lexus, and Ford making the top 10.<\/span><\/p>\n
