The Porsche 356 is one of the most popular classic sports cars to recreate<\/a>, typically using the engine and drivetrain from a VW Beetle (the original 356 and Beetle shared many of the same parts). Thomas\u2019 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster tribute was hand built in California, with all exterior details true to the original. This undeniably classic design makes the Speedster a super photogenic vehicle, and most owners will tell you they get more looks and questions driving their 356 than they would in a modern supercar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the surface this example seems all-natural, but underneath it\u2019s been upgraded for safety and performance. A modern 200-hp Subaru engine has been fitted in the rear, giving this lightweight Speedster plenty of grunt (standard 356s have around 70 horsepower). Plus, modern suspension, disc brakes, and air conditioning help make this lovely little Porsche safer and more comfortable than the originals.
