As you can imagine, the incredible disruption stemming from the evolving COVID-19 situation<\/a> has affected the travel and mobility industries far and wide, and unfortunately, Turo is no exception.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019m sad to share that we\u2019ve made the very difficult decision to sunset the Turo peer-to-peer marketplace in Germany effective today, April 9, 2020. <\/strong>While we\u2019re deeply saddened to leave the German market, it\u2019s critical to take major preventative actions now for the long-term health of the global business.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Starting today, April 9, 2020, guests can no longer book any new trips in Germany, and all peer-to-peer listings will be unlisted in the coming days. All upcoming trips that end after Tuesday, April 14 at 11pm CEST will be canceled, and trips cannot be extended after that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Any trips that start or end prior to 11pm CEST on Tuesday, April 14 will be unaffected by this update and will be covered by the host and guest protection plans as usual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Any outstanding claims or reimbursements will be processed as usual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Guests in Germany can still use Turo by booking through a Commercial Host<\/a>. Commercial Hosts are independent rental companies that are able to provide their own commercial rental insurance to their guests and are not covered by any Turo protection plans. Only Commercial Hosts will be able to list cars in Germany after today, and will continue to need to provide proof of their own commercial insurance before being able to list and share their cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWhat\u2019s next<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
