Welcome to the newest edition of Ask a Gearhead<\/a>, our Q&A series with enthusiasts and personalities in the automotive space. Last time we spoke with NASCAR driver Julia Landauer<\/a>, and today we are very pleased to feature Tom Exton!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tom, who sometimes goes by his initials TGE, makes videos about his life adventures and all the things that come with them \u2014 fitness, cars, and watches. Years ago he founded a fitness company with his brother, which has done very well (\u201cthough we still don\u2019t know what we\u2019re doing\u201d), and the company\u2019s success has allowed Tom to amass an enviable and rotating collection of exclusive supercars. His garage currently includes things like a Ferrari 488 Pista, Ferrari F12, and Aston Martin Vantage AMR \u2014 toys that encourage a healthy amount of shenanigans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, Tom test drove a Tesla Model X and a Range Rover through Turo to decide which one he\u2019d get for his next daily driver. What was your family car growing up?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

It was a Fiat\u2026 some Fiat estate car. It was crap. My parents didn\u2019t have loads of money so it was very basic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s the worst thing you\u2019ve ever driven?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I bought a 1966 Porsche<\/a> recently. Little did I know that it wasn\u2019t actually road-worthy when I bought it. I drove it three hours down the motorway and by the end the wheel was nearly falling off because the suspension was completely gone. And apparently the floor was rusting through as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you could own just one car for the rest of your life, what would it be?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Ferrari F12. No thought needed on that one. I got my F12 earlier this year, but it\u2019s actually the second one I\u2019ve had. After I sold my first one, I missed it so bad that I went out and bought this one!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Favorite road trip?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I drove to Le Mans in 2017 with Ferrari. They put me in a GTC4Lusso, and took me to the 24 hours of Le Mans. They trusted me with one of their cars, which was really nice of them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s in your Netflix queue right now?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Do you know what \u2014 I don\u2019t watch Netflix, I don\u2019t watch TV, I don\u2019t watch YouTube, I don\u2019t even listen to the radio. Frankly I have no interest in anything other than working on my own stuff. That’s probably a bit odd isn\u2019t it? I don\u2019t \u2014 and I say this regretfully \u2014 I don\u2019t actually have any time at all to watch new shows. I\u2019ve got to pay for the cars\u2026 the end of the month gets quite aggressive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019re directing Fast & Furious 9, what\u2019s the hero car?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m really biased, but Ferrari 488 Pista. It\u2019s probably not in keeping with the series, but I love mine. It\u2019s a really good piece of kit. Ferrari are really careful about how their brand gets used, so they wouldn\u2019t authorize it in the movie though. You never see Ferrari in anything really.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What would be the best animal to ride if it were scaled up to the size of a horse?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Goats. Yeah goats are carnage, they jump on everything. You\u2019d have to hold on pretty tight because they\u2019re bananas. And they can just climb up anything, I think it would be quite fun. Dangerous, but a laugh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What activity are you excited to be able to do in a car when self-drivers arrive?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ll keep it PG. Use my phone, because of course I don\u2019t do that whilst driving. Probably edit some videos. Boring stuff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who would play you in the biopic of your life? And what is it called?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Easy \u2014 my twin brother. He\u2019s not really an actor but we could just fill him in. Nobody would notice the difference. And for the name\u2026 it really wouldn\u2019t be an interesting film. Considering my financial situation right now, it\u2019d be called \u201cDebt.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you had an ice cream truck, what song would you play from the speaker?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Something really aggressive. Giggs \u2014 I\u2019d throw that on and see what happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s the last car you rented, on any platform anywhere?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The last one was a green Range Rover Vogue from Turo. I test drove it in my last video<\/a> and really enjoyed it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
