Welcome to the newest edition of Ask a Gearhead<\/a>, our Q&A series with enthusiasts and personalities in the automotive space. Last time we got a bunch of friends together for lunch in LA<\/a>, and this month we are very pleased to feature Julia Landauer!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Julia races in NASCAR’s Pinty’s Series, the top stock car racing series in Canada. Being a female race car driver certainly comes with many interesting experiences and provides a unique perspective on things. But beyond racing cars, Julia is a bonafide modern entrepreneur who has her hands in multiple ventures at any given time. WHAT WAS YOUR FAMILY CAR GROWING UP?<\/span><\/h4>\n

We had an Audi S4 wagon when I was growing up in New York City. It was like a dark evergreen color.<\/span><\/p>\n

WHAT’S THE WORST THING YOU’VE EVER DRIVEN?<\/span><\/h4>\n

I had to drive a minivan once. Maybe a Chrysler Town & Country? I don\u2019t remember. I was driving it for a friend that day, and it was just miserable. But I was also a little impressed how it drove, considering what it was.<\/span><\/p>\n

IF YOU COULD OWN JUST ONE CAR FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?<\/span><\/h4>\n

Porsche 911. They\u2019re a lot of fun and can almost pass as a good commuter car without being obnoxious \u2014 almost. For around town I think they\u2019re still just a little pretentious but I\u2019ve always enjoyed driving them.<\/span><\/p>\n

FAVORITE ROAD TRIP?<\/span><\/h4>\n

I love the Blue Ridge Parkway. Especially out in the Smokies around the Asheville area. Also Highway 1 from the Bay Area going south, of course. It\u2019s pretty incredible.<\/span><\/p>\n

WHAT’S IN YOUR NETFLIX QUEUE RIGHT NOW?<\/span><\/h4>\n

I\u2019m really looking forward to Netflix\u2019s Formula One series [<\/span>Formula 1: Drive to Survive<\/span><\/i>]. Also I\u2019m into cooking shows like <\/span>Chef\u2019s Table<\/span><\/i>. And I\u2019m a little behind right now, but I\u2019m a big fan of <\/span>This is Us<\/span><\/i>, I love that show. I don\u2019t always have time to watch them but when I do…<\/span><\/p>\n

YOU’RE DIRECTING FAST & FURIOUS 9, WHAT’S THE HERO CAR?<\/span><\/h4>\n

I would say an Aston. The new DBS Superleggera would be great \u2014 it\u2019s just a big muscled-looking supercar.<\/span><\/p>\n

WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST ANIMAL TO RIDE IF IT WERE SCALED UP TO THE SIZE OF A HORSE?<\/span><\/h4>\n

Let\u2019s go with a lizard. It would be weird, but they\u2019re so quick and nimble.<\/span><\/p>\n

WHAT ACTIVITY ARE YOU EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO DO IN A CAR WHEN SELF-DRIVERS ARRIVE?<\/span><\/h4>\n

I guess I\u2019m looking forward to being able to enjoy the ride as a passenger. We\u2019ll get to enjoy the experience of seeing things out of the window. When you\u2019re driving your eyes are on the road, obviously, and if you\u2019re already a passenger, whoever is driving is focused on the road so you\u2019ll be able to talk.<\/span><\/p>\n

WHO WOULD PLAY YOU IN THE BIOPIC OF YOUR LIFE? AND WHAT IS IT CALLED?<\/span><\/h4>\n

I think a young Jennifer Connely would play me now. Someone once told me we look alike and now I can\u2019t unsee it. And it\u2019d be called \u201cWhen nothing goes right, go left.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

IF YOU HAD AN ICE CREAM TRUCK, WHAT SONG WOULD YOU PLAY FROM THE SPEAKER?<\/span><\/h4>\n

At this point in my life, I\u2019d play \u201cHigh Hopes\u201d by Panic at the Disco. It\u2019s just very uplifting and inspirational, and paired with ice cream, what could be better?<\/span><\/p>\n

WHAT’S THE LAST CAR YOUR RENTED, ON ANY PLATFORM ANYWHERE?<\/span><\/h4>\n

It was a Volkswagen Touareg<\/a> I booked on Turo! I took it down to see the Daytona 500. The sunroof was clutch to have open for the six-hour drive. And honestly, people move out of the left lane quicker when you have a bigger car. My GTI is not very convincing, it’s just too low.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
