During a heatwave in LA, Pavel S. and Ksenia, his girlfriend, decided to get some relief. So they rented Flavius’ Porsche 911 and headed out of town! When they learned that the Pacific Coast Highway was closed, they headed toward the 101 North and decided to devise their own backroads route to Monterey, where they hoped to enjoy a cool ocean breeze.
They drove toward Santa Barbara and made their first stop at Cachuma Lake, where they got out to stretch their legs and take in the view. Less than an hour later, they knew they had to pause to get the full experience of Solvang, a Danish-style town full of art galleries, coffee shops, and cafes right in the heart of California. Then Pavel and Ksenia were off to San Luis Obispo, where they stopped for lunch at a cafe and enjoyed walking around the town — something they’d never do in LA!
For their final leg to Monterey, they decided to take a short cut, about which even Google Maps was wary. But they were ultimately rewarded with some beautiful country roads that seemed to be made for the 911.
It was evening when they finally arrived in Monterey, and they took a little spin around Cannery Row. They spent the next day enjoying the refreshing climate, and exploring Fisherman’s Wharf, 17 Mile Drive, and even visiting Bixby Bridge.
