Jessica S. and her friend Gatlin are from Nashville, TN, and love to travel to new cities. Jessica is a photographer and Gatlin is a musician, so they’re an excellent travel duo. When Gatlin booked a house show to play in Austin, they were on their way to Texas—the land of Tex-Mex and ten-gallon hats.
Their first stop in town was to get some enchiladas at at Magnolia Cafe, and then they were on their way to South Congress Street to do some shopping. They were impressed at the quality shops, everything from street vendors and vintage shops to high-end stores.
To end their day right, they headed to Waterloo Records because they had heard it was great place for live music in the evening, and it did not disappoint. It was filled with more records than they had ever seen.
The next morning the weather was nice, so they headed out to Zilker Park to enjoy the day. And since Gatlin had a show that night, she figured she might as well get in some practice.
After stopping at Torchy’s for some famously delicious tacos, Jessica and Gatlin visited the Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin.
